How does Hotwire work?

By Vonboe November 20, 2012, 02:45:07
First I tried a spell without using hotwire, I did 45dmg.
Then I used hotwire "lvl9" which clearly gave me +50% dmg in all masteries but I only did 41dmg!
Why is it I do less dmg with hotwire than without?.

Earth
lol, i think it is better you make other Rogue or change your element, cuz when u use hotwire the earth spells start to be fire spells, so, you attack with fire damage not with earth

Yah, sad but true XD

It's not sad. Hotwire is a skill for fire Rouges, to do more damage and use piercing shot as a -%fire resistance spell. Vonboe i would advice to make a new character and use points for suprise shot or get away! skills. (In fact i love fire rouges, so i would still advice you to make one biggrin)

use piercing shot as a -%fire resistance spell.
Can you confirm me that?
I'm not sure about this.
I think you do fire damage instead of earth but you give -% earth resistante instead of fire.

If you use hotwire and next piercing shot then you give -% fire resist (for this one spell), not earth. But it's still only useful if you're fire rogue with 10 AP and you have 100 lvl piercing shot xD

Callen, it's more complicated. If you are a bomber, it might be more beneficial for you to lower your opponent resistance for few percent, right before the bombs go 'boom!' then use others, less damaging skills. Also, if you team play, that may help your other teammates.

As Callen said, when you are affected by the Hotwire, Piercing Shot gives -fire% resist. Quite helpful i must say.

Piercing Shot's -resist (no matter the element) works on the Piercing Shot ONLY.

Let me phrase it that way: Piercing Shot doesn't lower enemy's resistance. It ignores a portion of them.

I can also confirm that the -res% of Piercing Shot doesn't lower enemy's res; it only lasts for the Shot, not a turn. I'm not sure how to screenie that so yeah.

Ow... If it's like that, then too bad. I think, at some point it did lowered resist for a turn, but I'm not sure. Fire Rouges have none benefit from it, unless they get it to a very high level and that might not be such a good idea.
