Rogue a waste of time?

Been watching video on youtube of bomber rogue it looks awesome,however the video is old and
stat point have changed and according to forum bomb damage is nerfed.

I made a rogue and got it to 80 ,pulsar did awesome damage on re-stat test.
But going aoe i'm missing out on single damage potential of it so it seems its either aoe or single target
and i don't want the bombs to suffer,but it would be nice 1 hitting things.
In practice solo though lining up a linear shot isn't always possible.

Also after the enemy walk 3 squares on my bombs they stop taking damage ...w.t.f ...but i have had booster pack 2 heroes and noticed they take damage on all bomb movement...maybe a glitch.

When i played solo after a while it seems like everything just teleport's next to you each round and pummels
you for 200-500 a few times a turn.
With no points in melee or single target and with enemy resists im screwed.Also the good damage earth spells i took are 2 plus range.

Just wondering is firewall any use as monsters get harder apart from buffing crits if anyone can be arsed walking into it ,seems in dungeons its ok but random maps your surrounded to start with.

If anyone is playing firewall rogue what damage was your firewall doing at 100.
And whats the best spells stat points for when i get mobbed.

Also for videos and photos i see people with 500% damage in elements at 100
whereas i have shitty 290 from infernal set.And how at that level am i supposed to solo the dungeons to drop
them as i nearly die or do die with 3 toons level 100.

Was thinking of going sacri because some enemy i fought give me -20 range which means just leave the fight.
Sacri has nice aoe 1 range anyways,but i made one and its shields sucked balls and when i go flaming everything runs off

Mmm Rogue isn't a waste of time, just bombs are not simple to use effectively.

Any ideas on equipment 100ish,im doing 60-150 damage depending on res from firewall.
Is the stop taking damage after 3 mp a glitch and what do you use when enemy close in on you if your aoe ?just boomerang? not really a fan of longsword :O

Like most classes, Rogue doesn't start to truly shine until level 150 and beyond. The only way to play tri and leave all options open to their full potential is to go all Close Combat build, but If that's not your play style Aoe ranged or Single target ranged is the way to go. Their are two main play styles, one using bomb to create a firewall to further buff your earth and air potential, and bomber rogue which focuses on making your allies bombs, or alternatively setting up bombs in advance and then detonating them when your enemy is in the right position (much riskier way to go about it). Ultimately my point is that rogue isn't a waste of time, you just have to figure out how you want to play. Rogue still is a solid dps class.

I recommend the vampyro set from level 95 up until around 115. Its a well rounded set that is verastile allowing you to really play around with the class and figure out what you like most

Personally I enjoy blam and cross fire as my AoE spells of choice but boomerang dagger and longsword are both options aswell. If you look at the rogue master passive, both longsword and boomerang dagger have considerable life steal since they are AoE's.

You can focus on general damage, you lose the boost to specialised damage but you gain versatility - you can use AoE moves effectively without losing effectiveness from your single-target ones.

You can attack in close combat while still being dangerous in long range.

All you lose is 60% elemental damage.

As long as its still solid with mainly bombs ill go aoe then as other classes seem more fun cc for me.
Whats up with the no damage after 3 bomb tiles though a glitch?

Yeah Sorry that previous post was a bit misleading. General damage would be ideal for you for now but there comes a point when you have to sort of choose what you want as secondary damage because gear will start giving secondary bonus damage and you have to choose what type of gear to use.

If your talking about firewall its not a glitch, each opponent can be hit three times per turn, after that they don't take damage. This increases with the bomber fan passive once you reach level 150. It increases to 4 hits per mob per turn.

Ok thanks for the heads up regarding equipment and general damage because that sounded better than losing spell damage.
I know there is a website for choosing equipment but an ideas how people get like 500%
on elemental damage around 100 because seeing bigger damage numbers pop up
would make me feel better about my rogue tongue

Try getting both an epic and a relic (extra rare items that give impressive stats) you can only equipt one of each at a time.

If you still want to do high dmg in both aoe and single you could just put points in distance dmg. Just make sure your at least 3 squares away to get bonus and viola nice dmg. Close combat will do less dmg however.

Get a relic and epic (Solomonk with Bagus Shushu would be the best bet!), the most up-to-date gears possible and use kit-skill if possible! My 115 toon has 780% biggrin(I sacrificed damage for other stats like control, AP/MP); Level 115-130 best gears are Magmog and Dragon Pig, aim for those, prioritise legendary(yellow) items as well.

With runed items at 130 you should be able to reach nearly 900% general damage.

your rogue is lvl 115?

@: OP ..don't start runing gears at that low lvl ..it's gears you will replace faster than it's worth the kamas and the runes you put in to it.
If you will rune anything do the epic and relic that you decide on..

And I would listen more to Earthminions advice =)

No not the rogue, just a char with general damage and 12/6 with 5 control. And you can rune the gear you feel like you will be using for a while, it will not cost much if you have access to cheap trash-tier equipment you can buy en masse.

I mean I had pretty nice success on my Rogue putting mostly general damage (took some ST cause my gear was AoE and I needed stronger ST, don't have that many spare parts in the beta... I always play Rogue in the beta a lot (I mean I wrote a mini build on ST :wind:earth rogue with one fire bomb, it did work awesome).

I mean if you want to go distance and/or AOE just ignore air completely, if you want air and strong bombs/longsword go for general.

Tri - Rogue is the answer, and Rogues being waste of time is not going to happen unless ankama decides to nerf rogue again as bunch of pvpers have already started complaining about air rogues.

Yes, sadly fire branch has been struck badly since bomb nerf, at the moment fire rogues' spells is one of the weakest DPA spells of all classes. But on the bright side, you have air and earth branches which are equally powerful and devastating.

Going tri-rogue you have the potential of being one of the top tier players of the game.

Simple strategy : GO Single target as secondary damage and General damage as main. Get spells like "binding bombs, piercing shot, MG, Pulsar, Slap shot BBQ rips". Must have Passives are : Initiator, bomberfan and Rogue master. Now you control the battle from range with earth spell and in close combat with air spells.

trielement rogue need more things for to be perfect....the answer is the level 200 and stop, I prefer to play air earth rogue becouse in cc for example i can pass in steel beak phase 3 to 4 in one turn!!!!
phase3 put bombs,+50FD +fusiladeand phase4

Currently the fire branch of rogue should be considered to be more of a "buff" branch. It is best used to charge up bomber fan state so that the earth and air branches benefit from extra crits and final damage.

But no, rogue is not a waste of time. Rogue is actually one of the top tier damage classes in the game.

Chances are you watched my fire bomb rogue guide ( I'm Rancidrode ) xD. Couldn't be bothered reading other people's replies but here's my 2 cents.

Since the nerf I personally switched to Fire/Air and it's OP as hell. First turn you buff yourself with the firewall ( which indirectly acts as a sort of barrier since mobs can't rush through with charging skills ), next turn ALL your Air spells will do 1k+ and the hardest hitting spells will do 4-5k+ on average/normal resists, atleast on 148 as I am right now ).

Also if I remember correctly it's 4 triggers on the firewall and 5 with the passive ( actually I'm 99% sure it is ). I can get 16% final dmg and crit with 1 enemy, then 24% ( so extra 8% ) without sacrificing DPS on my own turn on the same enemy.

And I'm content with my earth/fire, I run a simple build where its all about being nifty nimble rogue. First turn is usually throwing the wall and apup, while next is pew pew u die phase. I sometimes use bombs to debuff foes, makin' their knees or eyes out.
