Repairing ovens, benches, mills, etc.

By ms-qina June 20, 2012, 18:47:32

No one wants to repair things because you don't get anything when you repair it.
Everone is all about themselves in the game, so nothing gets repaired.
It would be nice if you could get a quest item when you repair something.
Like a repair hammer, and so many repair hammers is a free repair.
Like a bench or candle gives 1 hammer.
A mill, stove, or oven gives 10 hammers.
For the free repairs a bench or candle would cost 5 hammers.
And so on.....
Then people would be more likely to repair things.

I agree, no one wants to do repairs, using resources, without getting something - even as simple as recognition - in return. Whatever happened to a sense of civic duty, in other words, doing good for its own sake? How about players adopting a city, donating resources en masse when something needs fixing? Perhaps a small reduction in storage taxes when 'x' amount of resources are donated, or a 'Wakfu Boulevard' Star of Fame walk, as in Hollywood, California? Or a gaining a Citizenship Point?

And, by the way, who is breaking these things anyway? Is it regular wear and tear,OR is it vandalism, in which case, why aren't there guards in each city to prevent this sort of thing?

People who don't role play feel no need for civic duty. <_< It's sad but true.

People who DO roleplay probably can only contribute so much, too. After all, chopping up 600 hazel and all that copper and kamas to repair this stuff isn't very fun for roleplayers after they find themselves having to repeat it for the 2nd+ time, either (clicking on a tree waiting for it to transform into a log in your inventory isn't exactly roleplaying after all)

It is impossible to say that others aren't trying to help fix machines little by little. They may not be aware, however, of the fact that machines wipe out ALL RESOURCES when chaos hits and the machine isn't fully repaired. I.E. People might be donating way more than anyone knows - and all their progress is totally lost.

What Mosey said. There are a couple of topics about it over on General Discussion, but what we're hearing in both of them is the same: Between the amount of material you get per harvest, the actual materials cost, the size of the player base, and the likelihood of a given station to be broken again when the Chaos comes back, it's not really an effective use of anyone's time to try and fix them, because literally everything even remotely related to crafting in this game is based on the assumption that there will be more people contributing. It's not really about selfishness or civic duty or anything at this point, it's just a question of bad decisions on Ankama's part. It's like asking an emu to build a house all by itself with only a saw; maybe, if you can speak emu and communicate your intent to it, the bird will accomplish it eventually, but literally everyone involved has better things to do with their time and energy.

the bigger issue at hand is fact player base is dropping... leaving less players , and those players who are still playing don't want have do it for others. Before there was least a reason to play idea to aim for, but they've been ***ting on end game content for some time, leaving all the higher level players nothing to do... one can only harvest/grind skills so long in to 60's+ without wanting say why? why should I do this... so i can sit here and do nothing...

things get broken from usual wear and tear but also from ogrest. and ive notived a lot lately that there is 1 monster left from ogrest and it takes hours for it to be found or it is glitched in an area that you cant fight it. so then everything gets broken. it takes so much materials to repair things, then ogrest hits again.
