She had meant to be quick about it—to just pluck the Bow Meow seeds she needed from their respective corpses and then be on her way. After all, she didn't have the time, nor the desire, to linger in Old Astrub any longer than was necessary. Today was an important day.

Unfortunately, Fate didn't give one kama about her personal agenda. Taavi swore she could practically feel the pressure of things just waiting to go wrong as she entered the area, long-legged strides carrying her with characteristic slinky grace. She navigated the corpse-strewn cobblestone carefully, mindful of her lack of footwear.

Burgundy orbs narrowed into discerning slits as she eyed the piles of bodies, creating a mental catalogue according to their freshness. It was relatively easy to determine—the older a corpse was, the more it stank and the more still they seemed, grotesque caricatures of their former selves. In comparison, the freshly killed didn't smell too badly. And sometimes they moved. Twitched. There was a word for it, some official-sounding jargon, but she couldn't think of it at the moment.

Utilizing a stick from nearby, she separated the fresh from the old, knelt down and set about the process of harvesting the seeds. It was the same as gutting a pumpkin—the seeds lay lodged in the entrails. Except this was literal entrails. She made a face and hurried her fingers, sweeping away the blood and guts.

"The things I do for love," the Osamodas muttered irritably under her breath, letting out a sigh. Ultimatek had better appreciate this. He'd better appreciate her ..[/blockquote]
