My two cents on new Enchantment System, 1.64 ALPHA

Aye, done all the test I need. Apart from the bugs, I enjoy the new sublimation system. It really does add a new layer of unique character builds / customization.

That said, I'm not too fond of the RNG heavy implementation, specially for a game like this where Combat TTK is much longer than your standard Action-MMORPG, meaning loot system works very differently in the sense where it takes more time for any notable progression than your standard MMORPG.

I'm a perfectionist, and someone who takes pride in my grinding ability for perfection, while I role-play as a Xelor in the Krosmoz Universe (take a peek at my Dofus and Wakfu progression over the years since 2006). But truth be told, the current Alpha state of the new Enchantment system implementation is plenty alarming that it scares even me.

Sacrificing a whole new item just for a Chance based Re-Roll? Think about the end-game Souvenirs, Legendaries, Epics and Relics. The amount of resource, Ogrest Tears, Nogord Scales, Shadow Fragments, Luck based Re-Rolls needed to achieve the perfect item. Even if you did manage to create one single perfect item, what then? An Item that took 241930712039123 Million Kamas to create, will you even be able to sell it? Will there ever be anyone capable of buying it? By the time someone has the ability to buy it off you, newer content / more meta viable equipment has probably rolled out.

It's easy to downplay the severity of these important questions by using "Gobbal Headgear" as the primary example in Devblogs. But when you put it in the perspective of an End Game player. The story changes dramatically.

Character progression should be linear, workable, based on time / effort put into it. Not RNG / Luck based, we've seen what Gacha / Loot Box does to the gaming industry, so let's not go that route. That's my two cents.

  • Keep the new enchantment system (shards, slot shape, sublimation), but remove any RNG rolls all together (slot numbers, slot shapes, slot orders).
  • All newly identified items comes with one slot (circle), and can be upgraded up to 4 slots at an Enchanter Smith for a price (New NPC, New Kama Sink system to replace old system).
  • Slot Order and Shapes can be manually adjust for a price at Enchanter Smith (New NPC, New Kama Sink system to replace old system).
  • Slot Upgrade, Order and Shape adjustment price can be set based on Item level, similar to old Upgrading System. It works well as a Kama Sink, plus Wealth generally is regard as a form of Player Progression as well.

Actually I think most of players would agree with you. 
Even if brainless grinding is not what this game needs, if you manage to grind enough to get the perfect item (or even the perfect build) it would take that much time that probably another update was already released and then all you've done is worth nothing, if you're a perfectionist as me.
Ankama said he wants to make it harder, and I'm not saying it doesn't need to be hard, but rng is nit hard, is just brainless farming, hard means that only using your stronger skills you can manage to get that, and having no life is not a skill.

i am happy to see that some players are side with new system, i didnt test it but i can guess it and i hope Devs make fastest progress for it and get  decisions to remove all sub-alternate systems from game and build the game  on these new systems to go on the rail smoothly. Thank you sharing your exprience Reg3e.

You now get 5 rerolls per sacrificed item and cannot get less slots in a reroll.
But now you reset the item if you upgrade it to a higher rarity.

5 rerolls is better number than 1. But reset after craft to higher rarity is crazy... who is so free to just upgrade every single rare drop only for sacrifice?

Getting even one item like ogrest wrath or some zinit stele drop is a lot of work. Getting right slot setup on them would require untenable amount of item sacrifices. Could buy one with right slot setup I guess? But if you want to go for non-standard interesting build you won't find right stuff for sale. Because items with slot layout you need were sacrificed to make marketable layouts instead. This only creates more potential for boring repetition and going for any sort of interesting build will sap your resolve long before you get anywhere close. Stop trying to exploit game addictions like casinos do. People who play wakfu are more easily bored than casino goers. Purely random rune system in wakfu already was tried and didn't work. Be sure to learn on your mistakes.

The "reset after craft" is probably to balance between easy obtainable gears (white tier) and rare gears (stele, souvenir, ultimate boss). Because it is too easy to abuse and spam white tier gears until you get all the enchantment you need, to only upgrade to legendary tier after that.

It is also unfair for current players who already have Legendary gears, since it's so much more expensive to upgrade existing Legendary gears. It'll suck when a new player can easily surpass your stats with much less effort simply by spamming white tier gears, while you've spent so much time pre-1.64 update to get your Legendary gear, just to see them going to waste because it's too expensive to transition them into the new Socket system. Basically grinding all over again for no good reason, like what Reg said on another thread.
