Ultimate Boss Smasher: Get Back Into It!

By [Ankama]WAKFU - ADMINISTRATOR - June 29, 2022, 17:00:00
AnkaTracker Announcements

Think you know everything about the first few Ultimate Bosses of the WAKFU era? Wait till you see what they have in store for you in Update 1.76 – New Horizons! Take part in a new Ultimate Boss hunt for a chance to score prizes that'll make you the envy of other adventurers wherever you go!

Concept

From Tuesday, July 5 to Sunday, July 17 at 11:59 p.m. (server time), Excarnus, Magmog, Milkar, and Black Crow will eagerly and decisively welcome you into their respective hideouts for a fanfare of wallops punctuated by cries of pain and probably tears (your own). With the New Horizons update, the first four Ultimate Bosses of the World of Twelve got a little revamp of some of their rusty fighting techniques.

If your group manages to reach the top of the competitive rankings for one of these four ultimate bosses by Sunday, July 17 at 11:59 p.m. (server time), the challenge will be won!

Rules

  • The event will take place on the Pandora and Rubilax servers independently (there will therefore be a winning group on each server).
  • You can fight the ultimate bosses with a group of friends, members of your guild, or even with your Heroes.
  • To win, your group must be leading the competitive ranking at the end of the date announced (Sunday, July 17 at 11:59 p.m., server time).
  • The fights and rankings will be verified by our developers.

Rewards

For each group in first place for the four ultimate boss rankings at the end of the event:

  • A Milimoowolf Set
  • Two mimisymbics
  • An update pack (containing a booster and themed cosmetic items)
  • An exclusive, original title
  • A PeeVeeEmm Costume (if the player already has one, they can choose a costume from the shop)
Get back in the fight with the WAKFU update New Horizons!
First Ankama intervention

Hello,

During the release of the 1.76 patch, we noticed several issues on the Ultimate Bosses that could harm the event. Now that the hotfix fixing the main problems has been deployed, we would like to write in detail about the reasons that led us to stop and postpone this event.

The issues on the Ultimate Bosses

We found that the S8 mechanic of Black Crow and the S5 mechanic of Magmog the Gobbalrog were not working as expected.

  • Black Crow: our test operations did not anticipate that the boss would gain 10 levels of Wind Protection when it entered the ground phase (otherwise the S8 mechanic would have been quite trivial).
  • Magmog: our test operations simply did not cover the possibility of one-shoting the boss (which again makes the S5 mechanic pointless).

These bugs are significant and bypass the intended mechanics for these bosses. We felt it was best not to validate the downs since these two bosses had incomplete mechanics.

The issues on classes

As you may have read in the hotfix, some class bugs (especially on flaming) were brought to our attention before we checked the actual downs. We thought it was possible that there was an exploit related to flaming.

After studying the downs, this was apparently not the case.

Regarding the Voodoll + Hammhour combo, we originally wanted to remove this combo at some point, and it's done in this hotfix.

The balancing of the Ultimate Bosses

While there were some glitches, they weren't the only reason we made this decision. Several players had reached the "perfect score" on Pandora's Ultimate Bosses a few days into the event. We were unable to find a satisfying balance for the Stasis curves, especially for level 8 and higher. We didn't get any feedback on the new dungeon values on the Beta server, so we mistakenly thought they were okay. It's very important for us to get feedback on this kind of thing while in the Beta phase and unfortunately there was not a single post on the forum about it. We can’t properly test difficulty on our side, but even if we were able to, we also want to propose challenges in line with the players and therefore feed on their experience.

That being said, it is a fact that the balancing was not satisfying and so we proceeded to a significant increase in High Stasis HP. Our vision for this event was to offer an epicchallenge with suspense: like the Rushu event for example. We did not want perfect scores to be reached after a few days, this was not our vision for the event as there was no possibility for players absent during the start of the event to come and challenge the scores as promised in the rules.

We would like to congratulate the players who have successfully defeated these bosses, and we believe that they will repeat their achievements after the event is extended.

We also thank the players who participated to give feedback on these bosses.

Thank you for your patience and understanding,

The GD team
