Fantastic news, everyone! Our Beta journey is almost over. Today, Square Enix and Ankama confirm that WAKFU will launch worldwide on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

Published by Square Enix, Inc. and developed by Ankama, WAKFU is an all-new, tactical turn-based MMORPG that will be launching worldwide as a free download in February 29, 2012 and include with it a large amount of gameplay content to experience at no cost. In addition, an optional monthly subscription fee of $6.00 will give players access to premium content, and a microtransaction-based store will allow users to purchase cosmetic items

To ensure that we provide you with the best launch experience possible, we will be organizing a Stress Test Weekend starting tomorrow, for the North American server, NOX. Join us throughout the entire weekend as we host several interesting in-game events and win unique items!

Featuring an amazing anime art style, players can choose from 12 unique character classes and engage in rebuilding a world lost in chaos through strategic combat, crafting, and even national politics!

Generally when patches are released, all of the maintenance after the initial release of the patch is finished around 11 AM - 12 PM PST. We should expect it to be around that time until they release an actual time.

SACRIERS FOR THE WIN!

I hate that they are wiping everything i had only started a month ago. I was lvl 21 and it took me FOREVER to get there. If id known they were going to wipe everything i might not have tried so hard :\

Btw when it restarts add the name kaylie and (if i dont get the name) Kayley

See..the problem for me is i actually dont mind subscribing, but they dont have cell phone purchases. And what doesnt make sense is having to subscribe, and have a cosmetic shop...how does that work? i mean you could just make it a game where everyone has access to everything but the cash shop has things people need some sort of real life purchased currency to use to purchase these items.

Take dragon fable for example (before you go flaming me i know ALL of oyu here played dragon fable...at least to check it out), what i like about df is that they made their game free...but then have certain things purchasable with real life money purchased currencies...for example "dragon amulet" with the amulet you have access to do things some members cant, but that doesnt mean that the other members are disadvantaged.

Its kind of like most free mmo nowadays, Maple story is a childish and the weirdest game i ever played since 2006, but look how much money Nexon made off of it and look at its player base. People already love dofus enough since ...2005? (thats when i started playing dofus). My point is Ankama i know you need to make your profit for making such a beautiful art/tactical oriented game but to me when it comes to business you dont just think of people that are able to afford things you throw at them. And to be honest im not saying your monthly subscription is a bad idea, i mean WoW did it so why not you right?

Not everyone has credit cards...not everyone has paypal...not everyone understands how online purchases work. And some kids that liek this game have strict parents that might not let them do things like this, (before some douche bag comes and says things like 'let them grow up and get their own credit card and blah blah blah) think if you were i ntheir shoes, Wakfu is a beautiful game. I love Dofus, and i love wakfu even more, i just want something that'l benefit you, me and of course ankama/square enix.

Like i said i have no problem with subscribing as long as theres cell phone purchase or something.

Though I am disheartened to hear that the beta-testers will have to restart, I agree that it is a good decesion. I just hope all the primary bugs are gone (which I have yet to see too many after a couple of days) and all the items are translated (some items kind of seem useless cuz I can't figure out what they are at all D.

I also agree with the payment system. To change it to a one-time payment or make it free would be rediculous to say the least. $6 a month is entirely affordable compared to some other popular MMORPGs. Not to mention that the more money they make from this, the more money they can use to improve their games and make new ones. If you've been with Amakna for even just a few years, you'd have noticed the steady changes and the improvement in the quality. Though the majority of this is thanks to the staff, they would not have been able to do if there was no profit from the users.

Keep making great games Amakna and Square-Enix, I'm looking forward to it.

the only turn based game ive seen thats good is Atlantica but i mean its pretty much like final fantasy based fighting engine, its not too fun when you do it repeatedley, f2p is usually the way to go with games with an item mall and all, more people are going for free to play games even if thier ***py because well tier free to play but with an item mall, like Latale or Dragonica thier free to play, have somewhat good lvs and well yea thier awesome and they have an item mall

well... the beta was fun. Too bad the official release wont be free to play cause that woulda been fun too. No way am i paying 6 bucks a month to pay ANY game though. Get with the times Ankama. Micro-transactions will get you way more players therefore way more money. this is just bad business.
This game wont function as designed if it was free-to-play. Random people making 10/20 accounts and multiple characters to skew the voting system and destroy the economy? Of course that would happen in ridiculous amounts if the game was free. The voting system will be corrupt and eco-terrorism will exist in pay-to-pay, but it will be far less serious.

They surely could redesign the game and make it free-to-play, but then why bother playing the same kind of game under a different title and slightly different playstyle? No, I'd rather pay 1 McDonald's meal for a whole month of play in a more unique game than get bored in less than a month with the same *** I can find elsewhere.
Manipulating the voting is actually the only good argument I have heard for pay-to-play, but it still doesn't work. If someone really wanted to get ahead and was willing to put in all the time to lvl up their characters to rig the votes they would probably do it even at $6/m. What's another "happy meal" right?

If you are still not convinced, well, I'll tell you what. I have a solution. Make voting cost citizen points. You pay citizen points to vote or do anything government related and you don't get them back once you've spent them. Then make it so you can either pay real money to get citizen points or get them the old fashion way. Everybody wins.

Even if it must be pay-to-play, I still think $6/m is too steep. Gimme a one time payment of $5, $10, or even $20 if not free.

Uhh... I've played Dofus years back. First of all. I REALLLY hope the P2P doesn't turn out to be like Dofus, where it gave players a limited playing field. SO LIMITED, that you can't pick what your faction is, the level of monsters ended at like below 30, the F2P playing map was basically like a 30x30 grid. Dofus also had 1 month, 3 month, 12month type memberships and I felt that I was paying for days that I wasn't even playing which I hated the most cause I felt like I wasn't getting the best bang for my buck.

Not only that but you guys are basically competing with RUNESCAPE, I mean yeah the whole game play and play style is not anywhere comparable but RUNESCAPE also does the whole $6 per month and the whole basic idea of how your going to run things. You should reconsider it because I honestly don't think that it's a good way to go. I'm thinking you should do a one time payment fee only type thing or like a monthly option to pay it off till the total amount (ex. $35) gets paid off.

Lastly I love the whole revamp of the game and basically brought me back as a fan to only find out that I'm going to end up having the same turmoil as I did before. I bought a 1 year subscription and when it was done I wanted more but I didn't feel like paying and with the subscriptions they'd give you a pet LOL. Once the sub. ended I couldn't use it anymore which basically made me quit.
