Play!

They’re coming, and they’re about to change your gameplay experience forever! Multiman is a sidekick system that allows you to control one or several characters in addition to yours! A super-bonus for those who play solo, a new way of dominating dungeons for guilds – a little revolution in WAKFU! And it's coming December 10...

The Multimen are the first characters to introduce the sidekick system to WAKFU. When you call them, Lumino, Skale, Krobax, Trank, Beelzebug, and Shadow will leap to your aid, under your direction! And this will just bring a fresh new way of experiencing the game, and develop new strategies.

Who are they?

6 Multimen, 6 Dofus... you do the math! These Vigilantes are hybrid creatures created from monsters and the magic of the Dofus. Ereziah Melkewel created them:
  • Firefoux + Ivory Dofus = Lumino
  • Red Scaraleaf + Crimson Dofus = Beelzebug
  • Shark + Turquoise Dofus = Skale
  • Crobak + Emerald Dofus = Krobax
  • Treechnid + Ochre Dofus = Trank
  • Ereziah's Shadow + Ebony Dofus = Shadow

Each Multiman also has his own powers. You'll know more soon...

What is a Sidekick exactly?

A Sidekick fights alongside adventurers, is controlled by the player and counts as a character during a fight. Note that they won’t be usable in PvP.

Sidekicks can be equipped with all the same gear as a player's character, with no restrictions besides levels.

A character can control up to two Sidekicks at once in a fight.

The Sidekicks win experience but can't become more powerful than your character.

Sidekicks can be exchanged between players via the Marketplaces.

How does one acquire a Sidekick?

The first Sidekicks will be the Multimen. You can obtain them on the Boutique or via subscription offers.

In order to first be able to test a Multiman, you will get to test them for free ingame. The multiman available for free will change each week, and allow you to test Lumino, Skale, Krobax, Trank, Beelzebug and Shadow one after the other, if your account has a running subscription.

A seventh Sidekick will be available entirely for free ingame: the Astrub Mercenary! Getting him will be easy; you’ll only need to complete a quest in Astrub!

How to get them

Beelzebug, Skale, Krobax, and Trank:
The elemental Multimen will be sold separately in the Boutique starting from December 10th:
  • 5800 Ogrines each
  • 9000 Ogrines for 2 Elementary Multimen
  • 14000 Ogrines for all 4 Elementary Multimen

Lumino
The “Light” Multiman will be offered with 6 month subscription (additionally to the usual gifts).

Shadow
The “Darkness” Multiman will be offered with 1 year subscription (additionally to the usual gifts).

Why not asking us in a Poll like in DOFUS?

The Sidekick feature will be quite different in DOFUS and WAKFU. We chose precise acquisition means that would better fit what we have in mind for the game. Also, development of this model is already well advanced and modify it now could have a direct impact on the quality of the content.

Don’t forget that you’ll get the possibility to test this feature with the Mercenary of Astrub, and the weekly testing available with the Multimen.

Be the first to share this!

Now that I understand what they are, I'm pretty excited for them. I think it does more good for the game than bad. Sometimes getting a full group for a dungeon is tough, but now you have the option without having to rely on other people. I'll be able to farm for what I want/need without having to wait for someone to be in the mood to join me.

And I highly doubt that they will be as good as individual players, but it's an option for people who need fillers.

My only question is that will there be an extra slot for Multiman or will it take up the pet slot?

I'll buy the cheapest Multiman for everyone in this thread if the DEVs release spell information for each of the Multiman.

Offer expires at 11:59PM on November 19th, 2013.

Wakfu is a broken game. We do not have a politic system, the ecosystem is scoopy jaloopy, we do expect a fucking guard-criminal feature from beta time, there isn't even anymore a wakfu/stasis feature on a game named WAKFU.

The only good things this game have are the turn based tactics and the cute graphic, but instead of work on the countless flaw they spent over a year to release an half-assed parody of the power rangers WHICH WE HAVE TO BUY WITH REAL MONEY just because they CANNOT RESTRAIN FROM DOING SHITTY COPYPASTA FROM DOFUS.

Imma sadida and i can be made of wood, but, seriously, the ankama guys just leave me without speech.

And then Ankama finally allows Wakfu players to purchase character slots.......which by the way are 6000. Seems every time Ankama releases something in the boutique people scream play 2 win without realizing what play 2 win really is. Play 2 win is a system where the player can have an advantage by way of spending real money to the point where in imbalances the game and forces people to spend money to compete, while at the same time making it virtually impossible for players to pay for such imbalances with in-game currency due to outrageous prices on the items. The sidekick system will not give you an advantage. They will be more restrictive than an actual character. Can we boost their stats with stat points or do they have stats distributed automatically? Do they have 10 specialties like characters? Do they drop items? Do they benefit from guild bonuses and nation bonuses? We do not know the answers to the questions, though we can already guess some will be no which automatically makes characters better. Furthermore, the system in no way forces the player to purchase them to actually compete since substitutions will never be better than the real thing. Still not convinced that sidekicks are not p2w? Nor have boutique and subscription gifts ever been expensive to buy from others in game. They will be affordable to obtain from other players. For use Nox players, remember when Makas were 3000 due to SE's markup? They sold for mere pennies when they were released. Expect the same with the boutique sidekicks, and expect the subscription sidekicks to cost around the same as subscription pets. Lastly, more than likely Ankama will add new sidekicks to the game through in-game routes, and we do not know the full details of these sidekicks.

Well, you can play with your boyfriend and have a full team, guess you wont need to talk to anyone else again, won't need or be able to ask anyone for help since they will be isolating themselves just as much as you.

... wait, isn't the social aspect of the game the reason we play?

Save your "isolated" player judgments for people you actually know.

What I'm saying is there are often times when we are the only people on in our guild, or in our maxxed-out friendslists, or other people we know and love and are friends in real life with are doing their own things ingame, and can't accompany the both of us on our personal projects and goals in Wakfu.

Sometimes the guildies already have full groups, or they're leveling professions. Should I rather whine and force them out of what they want to do, just so I can stuff my group full? Sorry but manipulating people like that seems pretty aggressive to me.

There's plenty of times already when they help me, or we go and help them, or I form groups from random people and miscellaneous Guilds. And it's going to be nice to fill in that 5th or 5th spot if we want to run Lunar or hunting on Wabit or killing Polar Cracklers and need more fire hits, or something, and aren't having any luck finding a full group.

There are a lot of reasons that 2 people with 2 accounts would find it beneficial to have filler sub-classes, and in our personal instance none of these have anything to do with us wanting to be isolated or to exclude others.

And if playing a game with someone while you cuddle together isn't a social aspect of the game, I don't know what is.
I'm not acusing you of isolating yourself, im saying that with this the game will promote isolation.

Did you not join a guild and max out your friends list by seeking out people to play with? That will no longer be encouraged by the game mechanics. People will also be less interested in seeking you out for things as that slot can be fulled.

Think about the effect this will have on new players over a long period of time, the game world will become a colder place as the only time they will be encouraged by the game to seek others out will likely be ub fights which require specific classes.

Up untill then the game will be cold, a new player will quit by then.

And about the cuddling, i think you will find that the game is not what is encouraging that .

I see what you mean, and I agree- it does pose a risk of further isolation.

However, that's something we've been discussing since at least 2006 on Dofus, and it will probably always be an issue in a game that allows you to have multiple clients open on a single machine. It's very likely that we will be missing out on groups and hunts and runs because people are able to fill a few spots with handpicked and customized sub-classes.

But there's something neat too: they don't drop loot, break PP locks, or add to reaching optimal XP caps. They don't have the flexibility of an actual class. So they are inherently limited in some very fundamental ways. I hope it's enough to keep the option of asking guildies, friends and random interested folks to come along and fill the part with actual player characters.

(IMO breaking prospecting locks and meeting XP caps alone will limit the appeal of too much Multiman and sub-class use)

Im currently under they impression that "counts as a character during a fight" means helps break pp lock and xp caps.

Also pp lock only really becomes apparent at later levels so its still bad for new players.

Also they say they are fully equippable, so rich players will have a much greater advantage.(especially if they dont drop loot, the alternative is worse though)

So the game will be even more solo-friendly, wow, so cool. As if it wouldn't be hard enough to find people to play with now. After releasing those multimans, it's gonna be even harder, and after opening an Asian server and after a lot of people will leave Remi, it will be almost impossible to find someone to play with. Great job, Ankama, simply amazing! You could try to get more people in to the game but no, that's too much effort, isn't it? It's better to just put some NPCs we can summon. I'm speechless.

I suppose its too late to stop Ankama from implementhing these.

I suppose we can only ask for these to not be put into boutique but instead as reward for some long-hard achievements.

Its funny how Ankama didn't changed the price of Haven World buildings so that they would require more resources and less kamas "because they received negative feedback about it". As for me its more like "we had no time to do this/we forgot to change this, so we will blame it on imaginary-players feedback" that it didn't got applied. But now that we are giving out negative feedback about Multimen being in boutiqe or as gift for subscribing - i doubt Ankama would suddenly stop this update and not add them.

"But but... we have invested so much time to work on these multimen and now people don't want them? Whatever, we will add them anyway - we worked so long to make them afterall. Who cares that players wanted something else to be changed. At least it will show that we are doing something right?" - sorry but thats how i see Ankama team way of thinking.
