Ready for the next game patch? So are we! Content Update 1.7 will arrive on 10/30 and will bring monster hordes, a revamped tutorial, the crafting revamp, mythic equipment, Kama for quests, Combat Arenas Season 2... and more!

See all that it brings, within!

Today we unveil the premier list of new features and content that will be contained in Update 1.7 which will arrive on October 30th. The second portion, containing further changes and bug fixes, will be published on patch day.

Important Information

For an up-to-the-minute status of the game server through the patch deployment process, please visit the Server Status sub-forum.

Due to the many changes brought with this update, all character spells and abilities reset. A reset of spells and attributes will be offered to all characters, with the quest “Restate of Emergency”.

Main Features

New Tutorial

WAKFU is a tactical game with a very different combat gameplay from other “classical” online games. That’s why it’s important to welcome new players who are unfamiliar with the turn-based gameplay of WAKFU with a clear and fun tutorial, summarizing the basic rules as clearly as possible.

In this intent this update will offer you a brand new tutorial that will put emphasis the basic notions such as Action Points, Movement Points, and basic spell casting.

From now on, upon incarnation, Master Kano will offer you to follow, or not, a tutorial introducing you to the basics of WAKFU.

If you accept to follow the tutorial, Master Kano will teach you all he knows about combat. At the end of this tutorial which lasts 10 steps, the Dark Wabbit set will be granted to your character as a reward!

But for those seasoned spirits ready to get started in Astrub right away, you will be able to decline his most gracious offer. In such event, Master Kano will send you directly to Souls’ Crossing where you can get back to your business.

Please note the following changes herein:
  • The Gemlin will no longer be awarded after you fight the Bow Meow. Instead, to receive your first pet, you first must rescue the critter in an epic fight against Wabbits near Sokay.
  • The Crazy Lumberjane will also be in this area. But beware, her training against new incarnates has significantly paid off as she will offer you a first-look at group combat.

Our intention with this new tutorial is to better prepare newcomers, without making it  bothersome to veteran players.

Crafting Revamp

One of the main features of this update is the revamp of craft professions linked to equipment making!

Armorers, Jewelers, Leather Dealer, Tailor, Close-Combat/Area of Effect/Range Weapons Masters are the crafters that will directly benefit from this revamp.

Modifications of the existing recipes, modification of the experience received, new recipes for the Weapons Masters, legendary recipes, but also a global rebalancing of the equipment that can be crafted, and removal of some components… Here’s what you should expect, and more!

If you want to prepare yourself the best way possible, you can already find a lot of information in this dedicated Dev Blog: Crafting Professions Revamp.

Ecosystem Modifications

We decided to improve the ecosystem areas of the game. This was already started in the last update with the modification of the monsters families of the Villages of the 4 Nations. With this new update, we will finish what we started.

And as you’re about to see, we’re not talking about small limited improvements!

Creature Family Modifications (The Final Hurrah!)

The groups of creatures in all Amakna, Bonta, Brakmar and Sufokia will be modified.

You will find the same families as before but the groups will be built differently to improve your game experience.

And don’t forget the outposts (Amaknastrub, Bontastrub, Brakmastrub and Sufokiastrub) for which the creatures will be improved in terms of level, difficulty and experience!

In these areas, you will find low level versions of the creatures you’ll find in the Nations.

Furthermore, all players (subscribers or not) will be able to have a real influence on the ecosystem of these areas. It will now be possible to harvest seeds, plants them and get more in the Astrub Machines.

Quests with Kama Rewards

You will discover a new type of quests that will provide Kamas as rewards.

How will it work? Each Nation’s Jonk (l.e. Clan Member of the Villages) will have a new quest available offering Kamas, and a new treasury (they didn’t have one before).

The Nation’s government will be able to share a part of its savings with this new treasury, and the Challenger will also be able to purchase these quests!

When one of these quests triggers in the area, the Kamas earned by the players are taken from this fund.

This will be a new way for players to earn Kamas without having to make them, but also make the economical aspect of the game more accessible to new players!

Creature Hordes

From now on, when the wishes of a Clan Member linked to the ecosystem are respected, a new quest will start. If the players manage to complete it, hordes of monsters will appear.

A horde is a group of monsters of the same family led by a higher level dominant one.

Their particularity is not only that they appear under specific conditions, but also in the items that can be received when defeating the leader of the horde, since it can drop Mythic equipment!

Mythical Equipment

With the new monsters herds, we decided to add about thirty new mythic equipment from level 20 to 105 on the dominant creatures!

Here’s an example with the shield, Égide de Khiel (not yet translated) that can be acquired on Whisperers herds leaders: level 105, it offers +150 HP, +20 lock and +20% resist!

We also added new mythic sets in game that can be looted on dungeons bosses! Note also that these sets will be of a higher level than the level of the dungeon in which they can be looted, in order to motivate those who already completed them!

All in all, when summing up all the new features and content, this update will include more than 150 new items!

Set Rebalancing

A global improvement is being implemented on all the ingame sets.

With this update, here are the sets that will be modified:
  • Kapow Set
  • Blibli Set
  • Snapper Set
  • Scara Set
  • Mushdskito Set
  • Chafer Set
  • Toad Set
  • Kokoko Set
  • Carnivore Set
  • Royal Blibli Set
  • Golden Scara Set
  • Black Zordfish Set
  • Royal Chafer Set
  • Royal Kokoko Set
  • Tsar Set (changes from 3 to 5 pieces)

Most of the craft sets have also been rebalanced:
  • Little Scaraleaf Set
  • Bow Meow Set
  • Justice Set
  • Ugly Set
  • Kynder Set
  • Zora Set
  • Pandawan Set
  • Sumi Set
  • Youra Peein' Set

Challenge Conversions to Environmental Quests

With this update, challenges will be significantly modified since they will become environmental quests.

The idea is to get rid of some issues linked to challenges and make them more accessible!

Bid farewell to constraining conditions! Now, these environmental quests will trigger as soon as you enter the area. You will no longer have to register to participate: if the quest is already underway when you enter the area, you will still be able to help! Also, the beginning of these quests will no longer require a minimum amount of participants.

Rewards will still be Bronze Tokens, and character experience! The Challenger will be able to invest in cooperative quests, very interesting in terms of rewards and experience.

Finally, note that these new environmental quests will also be implemented in Astrub, to make sure that all members of our community can benefit from this feature.

Free Drago-Express

Drago-Express are becoming more accessible and free! And to make it even better, we will increase the amount of Drago-Express available in each nation from 5 to 20!

Our goal? Ease your travels in the World of Twelve and also make it more accessible to everyone. New explorers or experienced ones, nobody will have to spend a kama to travel!

Mobile Arenas: Season 2

New challenges, reset of the rankings and its implementation on our website, these are the things we will implement for the season 2 of the mobile arenas!

A title will also be awarded to players with the highest rankings in the arenas.

New Guild Insignias

Let’s not leave guilds aside!

4 new guild insignias will be implemented in this update!

When your guild reaches a higher level, you no longer unlock new pieces of the insignias but new insignias directly, all better looking than the other!

Foggernauts for All

Don’t forget that since October 16th all WAKFU players are now able to create a Foggernaut, subscribers or not! This update is a good occasion to start your own and try this new class if you didn’t already check it out!

Classes

Ecaflip

  • Flealine Army: Will work even if “Flea Love” is level 0.
  • Dice Roulette: Finishing an enemy will provide “Winning Streak” as intended.
  • Double or Quits: Will work even if the target is on a "Foggernaut Rail."
  • All or Nothing: Will not trigger doll seeds indirectly.

Eniripsa

  • Revitalizing Word: Will give a bonus of +3 to Hygiene and +4 in during Critical Hits.
  • Lethargy Flask: The spell will apply Infection.
  • Hygiene: the bug triggering a double heal/double hygiene gain if the target was in an area (like Bomb or Glyph) has been fixed.

Enutrof

  • Drhellzerker: Will no longer retain the combat animation after ending the fight under Drhellzerker.
  • Enutrof's Blessing: Will work with a character higher than level 100.

Osamodas

  • Symbiosa: Movement Points will be obtained as anticipated during the transformation turn, and not the following one.
  • Whip: Damage can be dealt to the Sadida Totem and Vampyro platform.

Sacrier

  • Colonnades: Damage will be correctly dealt to the target, even if this one is hit by the second line of the spell.

  • General: Finishing off a target from behind will provide the correct bonuses, like "Stealing" and the "Stabber" state.
  • Execution & Torment: Damage bonuses affect final damage.

Combat

  • Stunned, Zombification, Blood Cocktail and Ghoulification States will automatically remove upon death, allowing a correct resurrection.

New Willpower Mechanic

The current mechanic will be simplified to the following:

  • New Principle: Willpower increases the chance to apply or resist a state along with Action Point or Movement Point removal. One point of Willpower directly increases one's chance by 1%.

  • Removed: The effect of Willpower will no longer be reduced by 75%, 50% or 0% depending on the type of state: Gamebreaker (like: Stunned), Semi-Gamebreaker (like: Blindness) and Normal (like: Explosion).

  • From now on, one's Willpower for receiving the spell will be subtracted from the character that casts the spell. If the result is positive, the chances to apply the State will be increased. Otherwise, they will be reduced.

  • Api Juice: The level 15 recipe will be available again to Farmers.

Creatures

  • Monster Groups: All monsters groups of Amakna, Bonta, Brakmar and Sufokia have been rebalanced to improve your game experience. They will be composed of the same monster families as before, but in a different way. For example, in the Ronwen Sly in Sufokia, you will be able to face Gobballs and Albatrocious in the same fight!
  • Perception: Monsters no longer have perception, except bosses, who will have a perception equal to 0.5 times their level.

  • Ogrest's Cult: If a Sram member of the Ogrest’s Cult is in contact with one of his teammate, and has nothing to do, he will no longer cast “Diversion” on this one. This should help him not spending his WP for nothing.

Ultimate Bosses

  • Excarnus, Milkar and Black Crow: Since last update, all monsters have Parry in fights. This had consequences on the balance of the fights. That’s why we decided to remove Parry on these 3 monsters in order to adjust their difficulty.

Quests

  • Quests with Kama rewards: Integrating a new type of quests providing Kama rewards. Each Clan Member in the “Village” areas will now have a new quest offering Kamas, and a treasury. • Al Howin Candy: The Critical Hit penalty will only apply during the next fight, and no longer during the next 15 minutes. Its recipe will now be displayed (it will no longer be a secret recipe): Piece of Pumpkwin x1, Bucket o' Water x1, Al Howin Lollipop x1.
    • Al Howin Candy and lollipop: Will now be tradable.

Challenges

  • Become Regional Quests: Challenges turn into Regional Quests that will trigger directly upon entering the area. You will no longer have to register to participate: if the quest is already underway, you will be able to contribute. Also, starting these quests will no longer require a minimum amount of participants. Rewards will still be Bronze Tokens, and character experience. The Challenger will be able to invest in cooperation quests providing good rewards and experience. These Regional quests will also be available in Astrub.

  • Respawning: A phoenix (respawn point) will be available in Incarnam, next to Sokay.

  • Drago-Express: will now be free and 20 per nation (instead of 5).
  • Sufokia:
    • It will no longer be possible to import Farmer crops of level 65 to 90 in the Turfo Canyon: you will have to find the area that can now receive them!
    • It will no longer be possible to import Herbalist plants of level 65 to 90 in the Jumpin' Jungle: you will have to find the area that can now receive them!
    • The wishes gauges of Billon Stroud (Ronwen Sly) will be balanced separately. Due to this modification (and also the groups rebalancing mentioned in the “Monsters” part of this changelog), Gobballs seeds will also make Albatrocious appear in this area in order to keep interesting groups of monsters. Snappers will have to be planted with their own seeds.
  • Steamulating Shore: the Molluskies gauge will be easier to balance.

Wow. Disregarding the things that are broken that need fixing (which I won't complain about right now. :3 ), I actually like the stuff in this update and look forward to it. :3

This is looking very impressive. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

I'm still really concerned about the Handyman recipes, though.

I'm going to second this one. I can understand working on the equipment first, but handyman could definitely use a re-working on at least a somewhat lesser scale as the equipment professions. I haven't done much in baker nor chef, so I cannot speak on those. i just hope the experience changes in the crafting system carries over to them at least.

I see the Krosmaster Arena rooms in the gambling joints. Does this mean they're gonna be released in this update?

Meh, sure. It's been a few months. I'll give you another $6 for a pet and hopes that this patch comes through well.

Whether I turn off the renewal or not depends on what you do to the Eniripsa.

@SE I see we are getting a spell and stat respec. Dies this mean we are getting another rebalance? Maybe changes to classes to add more healing classes? Can we get any more specific info on why we are getting the respec?
I don't believe that the actual "revamps" will be completed in time for this patch, but there should be a handful of smaller spell modifications and fixes. The respec is mainly associated to community feedback asking for one final global respec before we enact our policy of only affected classes being granted free respecs.

So use them wisely!!!

Curses, just when I thought Wakfu4Iops would of gotten there before you guys.

Either way, I'm looking forward to this. Extremely.
Good to hear! And its interesting to have a dev team act faster than the fansites.

(hawkrider @ 25 October 2012 22:13) *
Hey are they going to make it so clawbots are going to be exchangeable? Even just from one of my characters to another?
That's the plan last I heard. I'll check up again.

Thank you SE for all the feedback you gave ankama.

This patch isn't so much ankama's doing as it was SE's, I think Derek finally influenced them again.

1. Tutorial that explains damage and resists
2. Quests that involve everyone and make nation funds important again
3. Giving all the dungeons a reason to be ran again
4. Revamping profs
5. Character revamps
6. Ecosystem matters now? Really? Finally! Pleeeeeeeeease add more of this. I know they can add more things with the ecosystem. New ores when it rains, groups for level 500+ when you overpopulate them, etc

If you can revamp the classes wakfu we can then recommend wakfu to other people. That's really the last step. No one wants to start a class which is half-done and needs revamps.
Don't forget the final global respec, too!

Revitalizing Word: Will give a bonus of +3 to Hygiene and +4 in during Critical Hits.
Interesting.

  • Farmer:
    • 5x Flour recipes!
Okay.

Seal of Companionship: its bonus will now work correctly and is changed from +10% resources received to +50%.
Time to get working on my gathering professions!

Wisdom bonuses with some of the family states.
I like the sound of that.
