Fantastic news, everyone! Our Beta journey is almost over. Today, Square Enix and Ankama confirm that WAKFU will launch worldwide on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

Published by Square Enix, Inc. and developed by Ankama, WAKFU is an all-new, tactical turn-based MMORPG that will be launching worldwide as a free download in February 29, 2012 and include with it a large amount of gameplay content to experience at no cost. In addition, an optional monthly subscription fee of $6.00 will give players access to premium content, and a microtransaction-based store will allow users to purchase cosmetic items

To ensure that we provide you with the best launch experience possible, we will be organizing a Stress Test Weekend starting tomorrow, for the North American server, NOX. Join us throughout the entire weekend as we host several interesting in-game events and win unique items!

Featuring an amazing anime art style, players can choose from 12 unique character classes and engage in rebuilding a world lost in chaos through strategic combat, crafting, and even national politics!

Thank all of you for your loyalty, and we hope that the release version will exceed your expectations and your wishes for WAKFU. See you soon in-game!

Like I said:

CALLED IT.

Like practically everyone else, besides people that don't know Ankama throughout the years. Though of course Ankama has a nice history about setting a date then delaying it further. Mmmmmmmm could this be like something such as the Dragoturkey patch in Dofus where they set a date like a month before it was supposed to be released then they instead released it like 3 months later....mmmmmmmm.

There will be a wipe. They stated that in the podcast. Also by feb 29th alot of beta testers will be low as lvl 30 and high as lvl60+. They will be geared up have alot of professions at high lvls etc....They said they will not allow this. They cannot have high lvl players with having gone through almost half games content; to be running around with lvl 1 players. Everyone must and will start out on the same playing field and same lvl, simple as that. There cannot be players with a huge advantage over others at the launch. That,s why there will be a wipe.

My highest character is level 12 so I'm ok with a wipe. I just started playing the beta and i have high hopes for this.

Let's Hope this whole Cosmetics shop will be similar to how Gear worked on Dc universe.

I find it stupid how they need to have both a subscription fee and a item shop. That is a bit too greedy in my opinion. I would rather they just release the game for a one time fee. Then have a cash shop that has cosmetics that have 0 impact on the game and are just there for looks.

By the sounds of it. They are planning on releasing premium content that will utterly shatter what ever balance this game could hope to have. The only way to maintain a even playing field in a environment like that is if everyone has premium content. Which obviously wont happen.

They changed their stance a long, long time ago. The current stance is still a maybe. This is reiterated literally every single day when people like you come by and say "THERE'S NOT GONNA BE A WIPE" and "THERE'S DEFINITELY GONNA BE A WIPE".

It's a maybe. Deal with it.

Agree, if there's a subscription fee there shouldn't be an item shop.

You do know that the item shop is completely cosmetic, right? It gives no extra bonuses or what not. Its alright to have a subscription and a cosmetic item shop. It is not like you need a cosmetic item shop to be competitive. They can also ad respec potions to it if they want. Only if the item shop gave a person an advantage would it be wrong. So you can subscribe and still be as competetive as the other person who does both subscription and the cosmetic shop. They will just look more pretty doing whatever they do
