The origins of the Almanax
Hundreds of years ago,
Magus Ax, eminent Professor of magic and divinatory arts, asked himself the question if days could be protected by higher beings.
If months were governed by Protectors, and hours by Daemons, what about the days?
Someone must have been taking care of the days and the events that repeat each year! But who?
Magus Ax
explored the Krosmoz and found the answer on the
Astral Plane: the keepers of the day indeed existed, and were called
Meridia.
Meridia were hand-picked by Xelor himself. Each one of them had special powers and personalities, influencing the day they were bound to. That’s what we call the
Meridian Effect…
Magus Ax decided to gather his discoveries into a book he named the
Almanax and stored it in a place called the temple of scriptures.
That’s what the legend says. It was a long time ago and could have just stayed a children’s tale… Until today!
The clan of Destiny is about to bring back and
old temple from the DOFUS Era: the
temple of scriptures, the one where Magus Ax himself placed the Almanax.
Ingame effects
From September 18th, the Almanax will be available in game. But what does that really mean for you?
Each day, a quest matching one of the Meridia will be offered to you. You will only have
a day to complete it!
It will
trigger automatically upon connection and will automatically be monitored in a dedicated space on the side of your screen.
Feature in development, not yet translated.
Since these quests will only be available one day a year, and therefore the players will have to log in regularly if they want to see its content, we decided to make them
accessible and easy to complete.
Each quest will reward you with an “Almoken”, a specific token for the Almanax giving access to exclusive items. It’s the same system as the Bronze tokens for the challenges, or the dungeons tokens!
Feature in development, not yet translated.
These can be bartered in a
machine that can be found in the temple of scriptures, in the north of Astrub.
Many items can be obtained this way, from a single
candy to
lvl 100 weapons, but also
insignias, an
exclusive pet or even books about the
Signs of the Doziak.
For the most motivated that will collect
365 Almokens, an ultimate reward will be available:
an exclusive mount!
Yes, that’s right! You will have more information about it in the future. But fFor now, you’ll have to be patient!
The Almanax is a
new way to experience the game on a daily basis with new
unique gifts that will reward the
efforts and persistence on a short, middle and long-term. Whether you log in once in a while to complete daily quests and earn a few Almokens or want to collect all of them to get the best rewards,
everyone wins!
Interface
A new
“Almanax” button will appear in the compass on top right of your screen.
The Almanax interface allows you to get many
information about the story of the Meridia of the day, a
reminder about the daily quest and
information on the Protector of the Month.
And that’s not it: you will also be able to access through this interface to
the complete list of rewards for the Almanax. This list will also be available at the temple of scriptures’ machine.
If you’re the planning type, note that we will have a
complete section dedicated to the Almanax on the upcoming Krosmoz website. You will also be able to access this content from the WAKFU page.
In this section of the Krosmoz website, you will not only find
information about the Almanax quest of the day, but also the
next 7 to come. Enough to plan ahead!
Now you know everything there is to know about the Almanax! The complete discovery of its content will have to be your own achievement, every day, by completing all the quests that we prepared for you.
See you soon in game to enjoy this new feature!
Also i don't see any drama here. Just how long can it take for you to make daily quest? It might depend on the difficulty. If they will make something like: clear (ANY) dungeon three times - then you can move to low level dungeon and finish it easily within an hour.
Like for me there's no need for mounts in wakfu. At least not yet - map's are really small and we can travel really fast by running. And traveling becomes even easier with zaap's and dragoturkey's. Map's need to be huge: like three times bigger. We should feel tired of running from map to map and then mounts would be wanted. For now i see no such need. Maybe after a year we will discover big continents or maybe our nations will becomes bigger (wich i really hope they will). We will see... for now i just guess we should enjoy the additional quest every day.
I can't help but feel this is a poor attempt to encourage people to buy longer subs, after all this is all about quality of product in comparison to what we're paying to use said product.
I think Ankama should have just came clean from the beginning and said "We're adding these daily quests you get tokens with them and can buy the following!", Maybe with a bit of details on what is available along with it, regardless it's hardly original.
We've stayed throughout the bugs, some of us the rollback, even the nerfs, give us a reason to commit to a yearly sub like maybe a discount; something which stands out like a PvP arena/tournament with rankings Alternatively you could continue to release the same quests with a slight difference each time, maybe talk to a different clan member or kill a different mob, it's just the same as what we've already been playing for the last year or so. Mean while us consumers continue to get nothing but monthly/weekly subs because we don't trust in you to make something of this beautiful world you've created.
Everyone including myself states this game is lacking content, especially compared to dofus or other games.
Lets have a quick look at content that will be coming out for 2012.
Mobile arenas-released for me boring
The Trool Fair-fun for a few hours
World Bosses system revamp-fun getting killed with little hope of success but limited to a hours a week.
Unreleased
Foggernauts-could be good few hours/days
Krosmaster Arena-some hours here if there is DECENT bonuses/benefits
Environmental quests-these sound so interest OMG I almost fell asleep
Haven Worlds-my favourite I hope it will be amazing
Guild versus Guild-going to create massive wars non-stop and keep pvp people happy (not me)
Politics revamp-this wont really keep people playing for hours BUT is needed
PvP equipment-again for pvp people a few hours here to some
The Almanax I feel sorry for you if the best content you could come up with is daily quests.
I am also disappointed that you are introducing mounts back into the game. Wakfu is set 10,000 years (I think) into the future I wanted to see something new and unique to Wakfu.
Why do you not open the idea's up? I admit the challenge system revamp didn't get a good response but the Guild system revamp got a massive response Thank you for using my little suggestion as well. Yes I know its late in the development stages so this is most likely impossible.
I bet 1,000,000 kamas (which I don't have) that if you ask people what reward do you want after completing X number of quests you will get a good response I myself could write you some lovely essays on ideas I would create if you need some proof look at my idea for the challenge system I knew it would be impossible to put into the game at this late stage but I loved the idea too much not to tell you all about it.
365 days to get the mount?
Firstly this is too long, because when you get the mount if will need some time to level and a massive amount of time to breed and look after I personally feel that you have CHEATED when your saying mounts are in "the game" because with would give you ONE year to put them into the game.
Lets be realistic can you be 100% that you could make 365 without bugs, look at your own history not likely. Lets do some maths lets say 10% are bugged (some would argue this would be closer to 50%) as they are released everyday you would never have time to fix them all so 36.5 are going to be bugged. Lets say an average player with a LIFE (wtf is that) would lose 10 days of missing quests. So the 365 has turned into 365+36.5+10=411 days or roughly 14 months.
The quests themselves are they going to be able to be done as a group or solo, they are aimed at low level players so everyone apart from low levels are most likely going to find them easy and boring I am guessing the content but quests are quests.
I admit the recent foggernaut invasion was amazing and very enjoyable but I believe it to be very hard to make 365 quests of that standard.
Also you used the word MOUNT not MOUNTS a mount on dofus is limited in stats or is this NEW mount going to be able to be trained to get all the different stats naturally only able to max out in one or two elements/stats? Because atm I can see the first mount sucking hopefully I am wrong.
To close
Simple solution to stop everyone complain quite rightly so is to give the mount away after 180 days with is still a good amount of time but not too much I feel. This way you will fill like your earnt it, if you miss a few days it would matter to much either.
Also it would allow after getting the mount to get the other Almanax token rewards within the year ^^.

Daily quest, 365 days logging on? lool
People study, people work, people have family to take care.
Maybe edit this ideia?
You don't have to do quests everyday. Maybe you missed that part?

Fail one day, see you next year

It will be very hard for everyone, imo, to get all those quests done.
And if you only fail one day, you will have to reset the quest when its about to reset it again.
If you miss one day you'll be one day short of getting full vamp set with all lvl 90 runes too. It's all time we're playing with here.
See MY point?

Good thing you don't have to do a quest everyday to get the mount then! Just do 365 quests, doesnt have to be in a row.

Once again, you don't have to complete 365 quests in a row.
You only need to gather 365 Almokens. If you miss a day, you don't miss the tokens you already gathered, so you don't miss your progression.
