Quote (Zadistforlife @ 22 September 2012 06:04) .. BUT this is Ankama we're talking about... if you've been with them for an extended duration, you'd understand.
Anyways, you list games which contain specific aspects of Wakfu, but Wakfu contains all of said aspects.. so I don't get your point.
This is what I mean, Ankama and other companies like it are like those lifetime bullies where the beating has become routine and you say to your new friend "Oh that guy who just punched me in the face?~ Lol that's Ankama, that guy...hehe...he never changes..."
Just because it has been practiced before and people have taken it doesn't make it acceptable... like slavery dare I say.
Nah you misunderstood me, I meant that there is no such thing a unique system on an MMO currently, it has always been done before. What makes MMOs unique is the collective aspects therefore asking me to find an MMO like Wakfu is asking me to find two people exactly alike in a limited number... you might find people with similar tastes and looks but they will differ, therefore invalid, they are all unique with their collective traits.

Quote (frenetiqueviolence @ 20 September 2012 23:37) Come on. Are you really comparing 2D engine to 3D? Seriously? The unique art content is one of the few things which keeps me in wakfu.
No no, you misunderstood. Like Wakfu, Zomboid is also 2D while Dayz is 3D. I do agree with you, 2D and 3D art cannot be compared.

Looks to me like a very, very, very, very ,very cheap version of DayZ.
[Google DayZ, or even better, youtube it, trust me!]
I played both lol
Dayz is a mod, Zomboid is an indie game. You have to try it, Zomboid is better, you can enter any building or room for example and make that your safe house and fortify it for example, there are alot of other factors not featured in Dayz but I'm not going to review Zomboid on wakfu forums . Graphics aren't everything, we play wakfu even though its not as graphically beautiful as Blade & Soul for example.

Quote (Dan817 @ 19 September 2012 23:15) I do think Wakfu is one of a kind game. This kind of game would satisfy what the guy is asking for it: A game to meet people and fight with them.
That's the basis for any MMO so that alone doesn't make it one of a kind just saying...
Honestly, you should buy 1 or 2 month subscription and make an opinion for itself, its worth that much at least.

Quote (Torle @ 19 September 2012 22:00) lol.. why are you still here then?
-Nemeth
Well, I check here once in awhile out of naivety to see if anything has changed, to see all possible options and who deserves my money. (Like Project Zomboid [Google it, trust me])
I like this game and I would like to see it succeed but often these MMO companies are ran by people who either really don't care or didn't make it through business school.
Why am I still writing here? Well because if none opposes this sort of behavior it, no matter how insignificant it might be, it will never change... or worsen.
EA started making games that came with online passes... for online features in their servers. There was little to no fuss. Now what do we have? Disc locked content, day 1 DLC, Online passes for single player story and online requirement to boot the game. There are now more games with passes then not, because not a single f*ck was given that day, and not enough f*cks are given still, people are just out of f*cks to give.
I like games with a passion, I want to preserve it's art and not see it become a corporate scam. So I rather share my view and hope that it just might tip the scale to the consumer's side rather than say nothing at all.
Long story short: I'm still here because I like to be part of the community.

Quote (Randgri @ 19 September 2012 21:12) Thank you for proving once again that most players of any MMO are overreacting angry children with no patience.

Quote (MikaeYami @ 19 September 2012 20:17) What lol?
Are you serious.
You dont have to buy the magazine you dont loose anything by not buying it and if you buy the MAGAZINE (note the totally separate product) you get early acces to fogger as bonus.
The fogger is comming out month for all players anyway so yeah theyre offering the loyal readers a bone.
Just because you don't lose anything doesn't mean you have gained something. We could ALL be using them RIGHT NOW but we can't only the magazine readers get it... even though we are paying for exclusive access as it is.
Get Ready to dance naked then.
A game like Wakfu... it depends and what you mean.
If you mean collecting resources from an ecosystem and politics = Ryzom.
If you just mean Nation conflicting and development = Face of Mankind
If you mean tactical combat = a few less known ones but i'm not going to bother putting them down.
If you mean crafting = pretty much every MMO.
The only thing this game has which is truly unique is the French concept art.
Now if you mean all of the features gathered into one, that is unlikely since most MMOs are unique... they all have collective traits that aren't found in others... Except WoW which took a trait from every MMO.
I have no problem with the low exp or the game itself. I have a problem when a company tries to squeeze every little penny off their customers for the minimal possible content. I'm not saying EA or Capcom titles suck.. on the contrary... I'm saying they abuse the fact that there is limited availability and the addictive nature of the product to force into nearly unfair contracts. yeah I don't expect things to be free, but I do expect them on a silver plater that I paid for.

Foggernauts exclusivity is a joke.
So buy purchasing your magazine I get to use the new class you developed early. That's cool, if this was a F2P game!
Let me rephrase this.
"^__^ You pay 5£ a month for the continued development of this game and access to all its features~ Otherwise you would only be in Astrub but guess what! We developed some working content in the game and you can only get it right now if you invest a few more pounds into it! Even though you are already paying for that! We done this because we heard you like exclusive access, so we are offering you exclusive access within your exclusive access... for a price! "
If you want to give Magazine readers a little early access like "We will release a new class soon, if you wish to try them out, purchase a copy of the magazine and you can use them, they are limited to tutorial land though" You know a little demo or try out.
This is borderline douchery similar of in disk locked content. This equals to requiring an online pass even when you purchase a new game. This coupled with Ogrines expiring (Discussed in
Click here ) and "Free 2 Play" adverts that actually is "Free to try out" isn't showing a nice picture for ankama.
These anti-consumerist techniques are not helping you. Don't try to be Capcom or EA you aren't even big enough to take on the consequences. I might be only one customer but I haven't subscribed for 3 months now because I'm beginning to think "Hm... This company only cares about the money... should I buy Guild Wars instead? It's 40£ but it's unlimited access forever with more content". Honestly if I don't see a positive update like finalizing the balance of classes by December or more depth I just might not subscribe again... ever. If your customer ideology is muck your content better be amazing.

Quote (Troyle @ 27 August 2012 14:17) Yes Ogrines expire.
This is actually a discussion we started internally with the other CCMs, as none of us is happy about this situation and would like to get it changed.
We might not be able to get the expiration time removed, but at least players should be better informed when purchasing them.
I’m on your side on this one.
Thanks for your support Troyle but I gotta say as a law student this is method is argueable, now I'm not going to take ankama to court over 1,000 orgrines but this should be at least mentioned before you buy them in bold caps! (red hand rule). Searching through some hidden guide doesn't count. When you buy a game at a store you don't call capcom to see if the game ha some online pass, you read the back of the box! with gift cards you are also told they expire if it doesn't say on the card.
This is ridiculous indeed, a ploy to force players to waste more money, I coulden't buy anything I wanted so I could either waste them with stuff i didnt want or charge more money to buy something I didnt want to buy at the moment!
This isn't standard MMO protocol either, I have played several MMOs that I came back to after 4 years and not only I had my previous ammount I had MORE from loyalty gifts and compensations. In one of them I had about 200 coins given as a gift, and 4 years later I had 50.000! That's like 150£ bundle.

Air Sram got destroyed.
It only nerf it needed was the way invisiability was done and the way it was handled was terrible imo.
They didn't balance it they simply made it into this "drawback techinique". Drawback techs are used in games as ultimate techniques, like firing a cannon that wipes the screen off enemies, but then you cannot attack for awhile.
If they wanted to go this way they should have made trauma much stronger. So that you would stack up the ridiculously low damage and eventually deal great damage IF you did not get spotted in the process.
I would have:
Change invisibility to "Once spotted, cannot use for 3 turns." NOTHING ELSE or "Show which cell the sram is on their 5th step (Does not apply to doubles)" This way you have a pretty small area to guess where the sram is and would not ruin the damage.
Srams do pretty much as mcuh damage as a cra or an iop with the exception that it doesnt have ANY AOE spells or range.
why would anyone want to be full air sram now? "Too harrass enemies while invisible?" you get hit sometimes anyway before, and if I wanted to harrass id just be a cra, id be doing way more damage anyway. it seems pretty stupid to go air and stay visible too at least make guile normal again.. its like going Earth Sac without any coagulation.

Weapons aren't just decoration. In solo dungeons you will unlikely die since you can constantly heal, and you can use weapons to deal decent damage.

Quote (Karakedi @ 30 July 2012 15:34) I dont know about other classes but why is Sadida's Dolls hp not been tripled or Eniripsa's Coney?? Classes which are summon based would suffer a lot because their summons will die very fast (in 1 or 2 turns max which is a high cost already since they do soo little dmg/heal so low hp) and eni's don't even get wp back.
Like Kikuihimonji said this is really lame for those classes. Sadida's main play style is summoning dolls, if their hp is not count on this why would people even bother playing a sadida, or a coney based eni?? Seriously Troyle can you pls tell this to Ankama.
Sadida still remains weak and this changes won't help them either.
In this point I do agree, summoners will be weaker than most since the 3x buff doesn't apply to their dolls. Any charecter that steps in battle should gain the 3x buff. Though damage remains the same but the point is to make PVP longer, so the buff should still apply to dolls and summons.
The only thing I can think of is that they thought that making dolls tougher to deal with would actually make it a much bigger boost in a longer fight.

@Karakedi
She doesn't, if you chose to go full water, support is your place unless you want to outheal damage. Yeah there is no strategy to that, there is no strategy to ANY class that chooses to go pure build. Have you ever played another RPG? Compare it to ragnarok for example, Priests only have one attack that does 10% damage of normal classes damage but everyone wants one in a party and its a pain to defeat one.
Yeah we aren't having this discussion again because its ridiculous to suggest a support build should do damage, you might as well ask for GM equips. If you want to do damage go air, if you want to heal go water that's how RPGs work. You make a choice and you stick with it, pros and cons. The devs choice is simply to make sure all classes are equally useful.
Deal damage / but bad mobility and unflexisble - Fast and flexiable / but lower damage - Enhances allies / but little to no personal attack. - Deal range damage / Little mobility or slow cast or lower chance to hit. High HP / Low mobility, okaish damage.

@Karakedi
That makes no sense. A support unit is supost to hang back and support other members. That is the path you can choose.
LVL 50 Iop + Eni team VS Level 90 Iop Would be a balanced fight (And I have gotten into PVPs at level 50 with an eni and managed to kill a level 100 Iop, the eni kept me fully healled and we slowly chewed off the MUCH Stronger opponent who had no support)
The buffs and heals should give you the edge and versatility a pure dmg team cannot offer.
Ankama did offer you a chance to defend yourself. You got weapons and other elements that can be used to deal damage. When Someone chose to be a full water eni they willingly chose to be a support charecter, a team player. You can always go full dmg build... or full heal.. or do both so and so.
It's all part of the team strategy element of 90% of RPGs... Whenever you fight anyone you always hear "kil the healers first" - Why do you think that is? they dont attack... they just heal... but hey, that is the WORST thing they could do.
I don't understand why people suggest Water enis should deal damage... It should be able to outheal perhaps but not deal damage. This is how it is with all RPGs Healers/White mages/Priests are support. They can turn damage dealers and become tanks/exorcists/Paladins/Summoners etc but that's what the other trees are supost to emulate.

1. Any class should be able to win a pvp battle to another class of equal level using her class' special abilities and individual tactical gameplay. True or false?
True depending on their element. Should a water eni win against a fire iop? No. but should a air sram win against a fire iop, yes.
2. A support class is only for support and should not be meant to be able to win from a damage dealing class. True or false?
No it shoulden't unless it is a hybrid.

if they are going to reduce dmg while you are invisiable, fine but at least give us a chance to stay invisiable.... fighting level 80 monsters reveals you in 2 - 3 turns (not cycles) and now its going to be 3x faster?! What's the point of going invisiable now? Ankama, Sram needs a buff not a debuff.
