New server, My plea is simple.
posté April 27, 2011, 18:26:26 | #1
New server The open beta started a few moments ago (?) and servers are full (who was expecting that hum?).
My suggestion is a rather simple one. Open a new server so that more people can play and/or not d/c and have lag issues. You can even make a server just for the english speaking people and leave Tiva for the French speakers.

Give this idea a go. Cheers~

One's asking, this one is suggesting, and is in the right forum.

In the discussion area. I'm making a suggestion so this goes here.

If the mods think this is wrong, they can just lock/delete this thread and move the other one here.

Also, if Ankama decides to create a new server (an english speaking server that is) could they transport our current created characters there? It would be a nice gesture from them (or good effort to compensate not being able to login? hehe).

That server (Nox) is locked behind an IP block that only american ip addresses can access.
And finding a way around the IP block is a violation of the terms and agreements.

So I'm afraid this doesn't help the situation for us.

They're deliberately not opening new servers so they can see how many players one server can handle. All part of the testing process.

That would be fine if the servers COULD handle the players it has now. A grand majority of the community (be it French or not) can't play the game! That's enough proof that the game can't handle all of the players. Any game company would be deliberating opening a new server as soon as possible.

I only ask that they give us some info on when the english speaking server will arrive, or if there will ever be one.

This is open beta, let's not forget that.

/\ This. Now that the game is Open Beta, another server with English speakers would not only be a nice idea, but would be better for those newcomers that are trying to learn the game but meet french speaking only in the area they're currently at, or vice-versa. It's a good susgestion Ankama. =]

It's only been in open beta for a DAY. Even if they did want to add a second server, they can't just snap their fingers and have a new computer appear out of thin air.

There a games company, they would have already predicted they'd need another server before the game even stepped foot into Open Beta, so yeah they could just snap there fingers and
have another server.

Also i highly doubt they will allow players to transfer servers once an English one is released, therefore its pointless for English players to level a character on a French server unless they want to stay there.

Sooner the better imo.

I agree that there needs to be at least 2 servers available for the international community, but the Ankama needs to know how much can the server handle.
Wakfu is different from Dofus and so has different requirements and capabilities (both Server and Client wise).

They probably want to know how much players can a server take to:
  1. Run Flawlessly
  2. Run Smoothly with only slight lag/delay issues
  3. Operate normally
  4. Operate with reduced capacity
  5. Possibly crash? (Just to see the limit)
Point 3, 4 and 5 are some of the most important factors of deciding whether to open new servers or not, and how many for each location.

I've only just started playing (starting open beta) and the lag is unbearable in certain areas to a point, rarely, when the game freezes an i have to turn my computer on and off, so a second server would very much help me (and my friends) enjoy the full game experience

posté May 03, 2011, 12:43:09 | #16
oke now there is one server for the wold to play
fine

only one problem testing the game now will never work

if testing now you will get stuck to many players in the game so the game lag's

i was testing all the jobs but every time i do jobs i get stops in the jobs

so if you wand to test the game get more servers online so there is less down time (LAG) every time

thats my suggestion

Hellonium

the dutch player of dofus ^^

Part of what they're testing is how many people the one server can handle.

However, the problem is that most of the lag doesn't appear to be caused by server-wide population, however, but by high population in a small area, so opening another server won't help all that much, since it only takes a small group of people to really start the lag up. (Having a lot of monsters also seems to cause lag, so it's generally having a lot of THINGS on the screen at once - other players or otherwise - makes for a lot of lag)

What the game needs is something similar to Dofus' Creature Mode, as well as the option to turn off being able to see people fighting. All those spell animations for battles I'm not even in or spectating are not helping the lag.

posté May 13, 2011, 18:34:26 | #18
suggestion to create another server
because have many players the game is so lagging
the resources finishing ( especially minerals )
and the people only speak french
i like french but i dont understand
then i think can have a server for people talk in english =P

posté May 13, 2011, 19:58:31 | #19
wow are they still testing how many people server can handle.
they should already know that the server had enough..
for eg if the game was released they obviously gonna have to add more ram or whatevr because the players gonna moan, if the servers are so laggy like this players are gonna stop playing. i dont kno why they r still doing it.

my point is if the game was released and one of the servers are like this, there not gonna just leave it till it gets full and if it did add like puny ram just to make it littile better and make it even more laggy..players will like quit that server.

plzz open a new server
my suggestion
current number of players /3 ..depending upon the size openn new server(s)

posté May 14, 2011, 14:05:55 | #20
Again, most of the lag is not caused by the number of players on the server (which is actually fairly low overall). Most of it is caused by the number of objects in the immediate area - "objects" including other players, yes, but also including monsters, resources, workbenches, animated background elements, and spell animations.

Something does need to be done to reduce the lag, but simply adding another server is not going to be the cure-all (or the cure-anything-at-all).
