Good pets?, Anyone got a list of some good pets to use?

Good pets? Obviously some monsters are better then others, but many don't know which are the best in their category for their level group.

Healers, long range attackers, AoE monsters, non-LoS monsters, state inflicter's, monsters that have massive HP or resists, monsters that push back- all of them, and more, could be great in certain builds. So if you see a certain monster that is great at certain things, then please post it. Preferably with the place, level, and what they can do. If this thread becomes big enough, I can order it into a list, giving thanks to all who contributed, and which monsters they contributed.

Okay, so the four classifications are melee, range, healer, and misc. It can also be a combination of two, just put it's main purpose/it's extra. Shetofu, for example, is mainly a summoner, that's what makes it special, but it can also fight at small range. So, it'd be Misc./Range. Simple and easy. Two at max, though.

Thanks, hopefully others will follow the same style of post you made, it's really organized.

Too lazy to be organized (it's late, I'm just waiting for my turn to use the bathroom to brush my teeth, ha!), sorry. But at any rate, here is the list of monsters that I would seek out as an Osa:

Shetofu: summons its own baby tofu, both of which are good ranged/evasive monsters. Nice and low level.
Evil Dandelion: attacks at range, hits hard, can inflict stun. Starts at only level 8.
Demonic Rose (the black one): level 22-30, great ranged attacker; can inflict the hemorrhage state. Combined with a good tanking monster, these can be really deadly.
Violet Larva: level 22+, range 3, hits hard, and absorbs damage, which makes them tricky to kill. Makes a good tank if you combine it with the Fatal Fury spell for some tackle.
Green Larva: level 18+, huge tackle and has a reasonable chance to inflict stun. Not a lot of HP, though.
Gobball Warchief: 'nuff said.
Corbic: level 36+; basically an upgrade for the Shetofu.
Major Araknee: level 43+. Has an AoE that can inflict stun, which is pretty huge. Hits hard, decent HP, great MP. An amazing summon.
Treechnids: Level 4X+. Both kinds are good, though obviously darks are best. Can summon spiders, attack with a little range, chance to cause -AP. Big HP, can heal themselves at least once. Very troublesome summon.
Crackler: Level 55+. Great HP (600+), ranged or melee attack, chance to remove AP. Decent starting tackle. Good all-around summon, and a good tank.
Ouassingue: Level 60+. Theoretically amazing as a ranged attacker if you can give it the Scarapounce buff, which makes it fight at range. Hits really hard at range without needing Line of Sight.
Boowolves: seems obvious.
I haven't fought dragoturkeys, but in theory they'll be amazing once you hit level 90.

I plan on doing a little research to see how many AP you'd have to give each of these monsters to make them attack twice. That seems like an important aspect in a summon. If you can buff them with Fatal Fury and get them to make two attacks instead of the usual one, you'll be roughly quadrupling their damage output. Eww. Broken.

If you could only catch that pokemon named Tofu Mutant...

Great list there takewithfood.

I would maybe go for Orange Larva at 20's... it has nice reflecting damage and could make a nice combo with a +healing spell.

Boufette might be a nice choice at those levels too, she can heal, posses enemies and attack at decent range.

Phorreurs can heal good amounts of HP, they make good tanks, they can stun and make some nice damages. I would dare to say they are the Warchief improve.

In a side-note: Can we catch Ancestral Abraknyde?

Four hundred will son. You can try.

Is it possible to catch a black weaver? That ap burn would be absolutely indispencible.

My best monster till now:
Orange larva + Bue larva
Decent attack

I have my doubts about boufette because it needs 2 commandement to be summoned...
On the other hand , it can heal, posses and do massive damage...
And maybe catch a little gobbal to kill it in battle and make your boufette go berserk

The Incarnum Boufette is easily captureable, Leadership:1, and has a healing spell, and an attack spell. Again, it's stuck at max level 2 so it's only good for low levels.

Rats, and Dandelion, seem to be my next desirable step up from my current Tofu/Cat combo. A Crit Fail Rat(ou) might be fun.

At high lvl where all equips give +40 Will and a potion perhaps?

I think you don't need more will than the monster but that it will just be easier if you had...

No, it's just harder when you don't have it higher. You can still probably do it, but it'd most likely be a pain.

Around lvl. 10 I think that Tofu Venitapod (that big, fat tofu) are quiet good. 2 leadership, but u get quite strong mob which tends to tackle opponents unless he's low on life.
About will: the higher you have, the easier capture becomes. If monster is almost dead, you still have chance no matter what will mob and you have. It's hard to catch monster with higher will, but you always have chance, unless mob have higer lvl then you. It's all explained somewhere in the forum :]

the larve violette with only an extra ap attack twice,i think is really good at low levels. mine is only level 20 and deal 60-75 damage.

a useful summon for a melee osa (like the earth one) can be the starfish mob

posté April 29, 2010, 15:35:16 | #15
Yeah, the bouflette is a good choice. They can sometimes inflict Charm, which makes an opponent lose a turn. Great candidate for the +Will buff.

All this talk about will.

I have a lazy violette larva :/

It doesn't do anything .. just rolls up and passes ...

Edit: nvm it works now
