[Remington] Astrub Academy studies, teaches and more!
So I've noticed a lot of newbies wandering around without a sense of direction lately. This is a real shame if you ask me. So I guess I'll do what I can to help: start a helpful and cooperative guild newbies can join to have experienced guides helping them learn the controls, get the hang of their chosen class and generally make their entry into the World of Twelve as swift and painless as possible.
Unfortunately, right now I'm alone, and there's only so much time I can dedicate to the game. So I'm looking for active, interested and polite players to help me.
Here's a charter of sorts:
As a teaching member of the Academy, you'll have to:
1. Be there to help players less-experienced than you are.
2. Be polite, patient and tolerant. As obvious and idiotic the question seems, you'll have to explain it.
3. Be willing to seek out and offer assistance to newbies.
4. Avoid giving easy solutions to the game's many choices, secrets and inner workings, such as exact formulae, optimum builds and exact locations of a secret; but provide the inquirer assistance in reaching them by him- or herself.
5. Speak English at at least a moderate level. Perfect fluency is not necessary, but extremely pleasing to see. Knowledge of other languages is a huge bonus, as well.
Additionally (Or alternately), you can join as a researcher, and help with:
1. Exploring the game's mechanics, working out the more minute details of how the game world works - including things like formulae, AI behaviour and so on.
2. Writing guides, manuals and descriptions, ranging anywhere from class strategies to crafting recipe lists, to guides on decorating your Haven Bag.
3. Should we ever acquire a site, wiki, IRC channel or anything of the sort: maintaining them.
And of course, you're always welcome as a student. All you have to do is ask.
There will be a list of persons to ask, but at the moment, it's just me: use forum's PM function or inquire with Zamashet in-game.
In any case, the Academy would prefer to stay neutral: avoid going into politics or non-friendly PvP. While these subjects will be explained, understanding them enough to participate de-facto means you're ready to graduate. Reputation is also important, so avoid attacking others, physically, verbally or ideologically. Everyone likes a good prank, but it's not fun when someone's crying, pointing fingers or fighting. As long as you adhere to those two rules (of sorts), you can stay as long as you like.
Your choice of nation doesn't matter, either. You can join even if you're in Astrub and haven't chosen yet. We'll help with that, too.
