Exp Broken?
posté January 15, 2011, 23:00:03 | #1
Exp Broken? I'm currently level 14 and I find the experience system to be very broken.

I kill a lvl 3 piou bird I get 100 experience.

I kill a lvl 15 gobbal I get 260 experience.
I kill a lvl 15 gobbal with 1 other person I get 60 experience.

I kill a group of 5 lvl 15 gobbals + gobellette by myself get 499 experience.
I kill a group of 5 lvl 15 gobbals with 3 other people I get 1200 experience?

It seems if you solo large groups of monsters by yourself you get less than half the experience you get killing with 3 other people.

edit:

I just killed a normal group in the gobbal chef zone by myself, 500 exp.
Killed the same group with 4o thers, 5000 exp.
... I guess theres no reason to solo

Add up all the monsters' levels. Add up all your group's levels. Are those numbers similar? Congrats, you'll get good exp. Too high or too low are equally poor.

And yes, soloing sucks.

The exp system was designed to discourage solo play. This has been the case with dofus as well for a very long time.

The reason for this is that solo play sucks, and games that promote it get boring, and if you don't force people to play together in some way, most people won't.

This will only encourage multi clienting, you can't always find people to fight monsters with.

The huge bonuses for party play is something that I find very attractive about Wakfu. I play online games so I can play with other people, if I wanted to solo I'd just go play my consoles. Whenever I can't find a group to train with, I just work on crafting. I have to agree with Pebblar overall, it's nearly impossible to find groups on online games unless the exp system gives huge bonuses to doing so, and the games that promote solo play usually get very boring very fast.

Makes for a VERY boring game though when you're playing at night... with few people on... and they're all French.

I guess it will be better once there is an English server... but right now it's boring as all hell.

Are you in a guild? That helps quite a bit if it has plenty of English speakers all over the world.

Joining a guild did not help at all Everyone too high level... or the 1 person willing to play with me glitches out every fight

I've always felt that group XP is balanced to account for the fact that group fights take a long time.  I was just hitting groups of 3 warchefs + some other gobs with a group of 6 people (levels 10 to 23), and at level 23 I was getting 12-14k XP per fight.  However, the fights were taking about 10 minutes each.  I can solo a WC in about a minute and get 1,400 xp.  So in terms of XP per minute, it's fairly similar.

The drops are much better in a group, of course, but it's also a lot harder to coordinate a fight, find a group big enough, get everyone to the same spot, not have anyone lag out, etc.  There are upsides and downsides.  Overall, though, I prefer to fight in a group, because it's more interesting from a tactical standpoint and just for the company.  The XP isn't really a factor for me.

EDIT:  I will echo, though, that Ankama has always strongly encouraged group play and cooperation, and Wakfu is no exception.

It encourages grouping to level, which is good.
Bad part is theres not always a group to level with, very rarely actually.
Another bad part is that it disencourages solo a lot, to the point where there is no point in killing a mob of monsters by yourself because you almost get the same experience killing 1 of those monsters in 1/10th the time.

well i think that it would be good if there was a system where you get like X4 exp for killing 1 creature the 1st time u kill it,

then 2nd time you kill the same creature X2

3rd  X1.75

4th 1.5

5th 1.25

6th  X1 - Normal exp point stays same for (bosses and rare monsters)

7th X0.80

8th X0.60

9th X0.50

then it stays like that, until you stop killing it for 1 hour per 1 phase to reset (after if u killed 9 of the same mob it would take 9 hours to reset to X4 exp for kill)  if they put in this system then people would enjoy fighting a veriety of monsters instead of just spamming the same one, and would also help with maintaining the Wakfu/Stasis balance so that creatures would discourage people getting certain mobs becoming endangered as much. and people love getting exp boosts (would
speed up lvling for people who dont spend 10 hours on it a day and would slow down lvling a bit for those who do, so that people can stay in same lvl range as their freinds easier then they wont feel left out)

Just an idea

(e.g if you had a group 1 goball 2 tofu it would still only count as 1 goball and 1 tofu X4 exp then if you fight a group 2 goball 2 tofu and 1 gotubby it would give 2 tofu X2 exp 2 goball X2 exp and 1 gotubby X4 exp)
