Are they fewer and fewer players?, (Or I just don't know yet enough people?)
posté June 17, 2012, 14:44:11 | #1
Are they fewer and fewer players? Errrrr.... I got some serious questions:
Are they fewer and fewer players [after each update (=nerf and/or re-nerf)]?
Or I'm just unlucky and don't know enough people yet?

A lot of my friends have abandoned the game or haven't renewed their subs; the same happened with guild too ; from my list of friends, I hardly see a few online every now and then, but not anymore a ton of them, as I used to ; it is harder and harder to find groups for any kind of xp party or dungeon; even when I am farming mats for my profs, most often I gotta do royal gob/ blibli/ tofu alone, which is boring, since I can't find any new players (low lev, since they're new) to take on some runs, and ofc a + 50 character won't come to easy dungs. To be true, it scares me more not the difficulty of getting a group for vamp or nun dung, but for the low lev dungs - that means they are not many new players for the game, to replace those who have abandoned in great numbers.

Ummmm... Is wakfu close to its final breath? If less and less people play it, and if they are so few new players to replace them, then sooner or later the costs with the game will surpass the income wakfu can generate, and we all know amkana aint a charity organisation, so I doubt they will keep the game open if it turns out it aint profitable for them.

I need to know what will happen to wakfu, do players intend to come back (those who have abandoned or have not renewed subs), are non subscribers around who think of subbing their account, or are they any new players at all to replace those who left, at least in some % ?
Even if it would sadden me a lot, I would appreciate to know already if the income generated by wakfu is so low, to prevent keeping it open for much longer in the future - to know not to invest time (and money) in my character anymore and look for something else out there.
Tho it would thrill me to be told instead that amkana has some great plans to attract back the players they have lost, and even more new players, and keep the game going. I donno, going back to the old spell xp system (the new one has made so many quit), adding new content, adding new levels, adding new classes, adding new equips, adding new nations ... whatever that will ignite back the players' interest for this game.

I tried to play this game, but i noticed that i need to subscribe in order to do anything at all.
Without subscription i can only kill monsters and explore.
I wish for more content to F2P players so they can actualy do something.

It's pretty common situation actually. People will start to come back as soon as there will be somethnig new to do in wakfu and when that happens they will probably bring some new faces with them. I understand what you feel. I'm not very happy about actual state in which Wakfu is now too, but we can't do much except to wait patiently.

This game will never close, as there is a rather large playerbase on the French side. But new content will always be added to the game, it will simply be a matter of time.

Just need to wait it out, I'm afraid.

I think the main thing is actually how everything was divided
There are five servers, dofus had two
There are four nations, dofus had two
You get auto IP locked as well

Add in the updates/nerfs

If you put in a number then divide it by 5 then by 4 its not going to be very high
If you put in a number then divide by 2 and then 2 its a lot better

You don't end up with a lot of people

Also the devs many years ago on this website said something along the lines who, we aim to have ONE monster server, which would be international , I guess it was too much effort/money.
Which I personally thought was the best solution and I was very excited about.

Because PPLs are playing D3 and LOL when they are waiting wakfu become better.

Honestly, i 'm missing Wakfu Open Beta ver.

p2p or not... it's cheap just to play this game even if it's for a year...
what is needed are just some cash equipment that makes you stand out in terms of power or looks..

I know some people (including me), who don't play right now, but waiting for something new. Wakfu has kinda bad time now, last patch didn't really bring anything and new patch probably won't be any soon. I'm also waiting for World Bosses rework, because I don't have time to camp 10h/day or sit few days in mine just to get 1 item from Black Crow.

If at least they would balance 1v1 or improve group pvp. At the moment, there just isn't anything to do, except exping professions, which is boring for some people.

It might be a matter of perspective. I could not play for about 2 weeks prior to the spell revamp and returned a few days after. Personally I felt like there were more players online than before I had to take my break. Our guild had a lot of new members as well and quite a few of them were new players on their first character. Over the last few days I saw pretty much everyone from my contact list logging on at one point or another. The game has some problems that's true but they show me one that doesn't. I'm pretty sure that your fear of the vanishing player base is simply fueled by the dramatic "I'm quitting" threads or post looking for reassurance just like the one you made I'd also have to agree with the point that the game is designed in a way to divide it's population (across numerous servers and nations).

Wakfu will die if it continues to be stupid to put updates. Will play a France. In this year will be a lot of competing projects.

People leave because of the fact that the patches after the closed beta test was a failure. I have been playing for a long time and I know how many people there were. Server empty.

posté June 18, 2012, 16:27:17 | #11
all i do by now is profs =/
the empty of the game make he boring even for the "lone wolfs"

edit: and to add something contructive, i think the fusion of all servers would make it a little more fun, "country war" is what make a mmo fun, and i bet gona have some!

I'm currently not subscribed, but if the Ankama will finally balance the classes, add some pvp content, bring some sens to the nations (like re-hooking sadida kingdo to bonta, and also the other HL area), putting end to the chaos the ecosystem verse in, and (most of all) decuplicating the number and the power of the crafting object in rapport to those droppable (the noke set was a great shot. Now we need variety) for all the levels, making the HL recipe nedds few HL ingredients and not TONS of low level object (and tons of HL object), i will gladly pay for another subscription.

If not, i will continue leveling my countless pandas in astrub.

for me, its that i dont want to log in and watch the few scant Kama's i have managed to make, vanish away becasue i now get taxed to replace things in my storage.
i dont sell, i never leave the game inside my haven bag (except with a crash, which i then get right back on to exit the bag) and i allways sort my inventry someplace quiet so i dont have to worry bout someone wanting to by my stored seeds/saplings

i am currently waiting to see if the items mentioned that are supposed to be storing 9999 of stuff are going to be high level chars only (ie you have to go to a dungion to get, have tones and tones of mined Kama's to buy or are available only by level) or can be bought by/crafted by players or from the ankama store (if it cost me a few Ogrines but was usefull in my bag, then i would consider it a worthwhile pruchase) at any level. because the char i store on isnt leveling up anything but skills.
and that means i cant go into dungeons to get items (gutted i have to be lvl 30+ to get the dungeon garden gem) or do quests where you have to be a certain level+ to do them.

i want them to add more PvP for the PvP players. becasue they get under my feet when i am planting
i want more things for the F2P players, becasue i have friends that refuse to play P2P games at all, and i want them to come play. but they wont when its the equivelent of a 1hour trial of the game if you dont enjoy grinding mobs in astrub.
i would also like more things to do other than PvP and Dungeon and mine your arse off for Kama's. have sugested quite a few myself, things we can do, things Ankama can add, fun we can have hehe.

my sub ran out while i was sick and wasnt logging on, and once i was healthy enough to log on, i read about the tax, so i never bothered to resub. since all my fun comes via crafting and eco-based work, i cant play without the sub, so i wait now to see what the tax on haven bags will do.

Imagine if they made a server for the Br players, Remis pop would drop by another 50% if not more XD

Well, same problem here. Tried this game just to find out that "Free to play" is a lie. I can't even learn any crafting profession without subscription. And I'm not going to subscribe because I see too few players here and I'm afraid that the game will be too boring after a week or so.

posté June 19, 2012, 11:42:52 | #16
To be honest i have subscription and i find that more and more, when there is a new update everyone starts over with new characters, which makes mid and high level levelling the most hardest, plus you have these people who prefer to solo, which i have found people doing more and more, making it difficult to get groups together to either level or dungeon.

Wakfu needs to get it's act together if it wants to attract more people to the game who aren't French.

posté June 20, 2012, 13:46:19 | #17
I have been playing considerably less. The new spell system without a spell lock is retarded and there is nothing to do by yourself other than professions so leveling up around level 60s takes ages... but even if I was 100 there is only pvp and war even being governor you need to have contacts or ull never be picked...

Gamer will never close? Yeah maybe not game, but if this server doesn't give enough money to Ankama, they might close it.

The game is stresssss ... i dont have to time to play wakfu ... i wish i could buy membership from leading shops likes Tesco , Asda ....
Theres not to do , no groups seriously , my guild is dead now all i do is play other games but not D3 (D3 is just too wide and too large mapped)

i would love to play wakfu again after probably a year seriously , me and my friends are doing that , after a year it be full of new things to do which will probably take us like 4 months but yeah .

Wakfu aint gonna die its a good game but they just need to wait , wait more
by next year wakfu will be more popular but i wouldnt be one of them , i have to do work in secondary school and revise , i have time for wakfu but its annoys me that my membership is being wasted when am busy ,

if wakfu added like a timer , that stops when you logg off , then i would JOOOOOOOOOoooin back so quickly and probably everyone to make most of the game.

and last thing we need more methods to pay.... i dont like going to Dofus website and buy ogrines 2x just to buy membership for wakfu and it costs me £6.90(by phone) for a week and thats a massive reep of for me

There's nothing to do in Wakfu. It's a very small game you can complete in a month, two max.
And content updates seem to come once in a century, so no surprise most of players got bored and quit.
Not to mention all of those people who ragequit because of nerf, bugs, all sorts of imbalances and Ankamas incompetence.
