Goodbye Wakfu
posté May 05, 2012, 01:55:13 | #1
Goodbye Wakfu Yeah, it's another thread about a leaving player but since Wakfu doesn't have an in-game messaging system it's hard to leave a message for friends saying bye.

I guess you could say I was a fairly prominent character in Sufokia, or at the very least well known. I was the vice governor for 7-8 weeks or so and spent a lot of my time helping out the new players and trying to encourage more people to join Sufokia. But there comes a time when you just want to play a game and enjoy yourself.. and there's nothing left for me to do in Wakfu. I have no interest in rolling a new character or maxing some largely pointless professions. I've done all the content and I'm not really enjoying myself anymore.

I don't want to turn this thread into a rant so I'll try (and fail) to keep it short and just offer my opinions, without raging. When it comes down to it, I'm just a player paying to access the servers. I have no divine right to the game, I have no right to have the game tailored to my needs and if Ankama want to make changes it is fully within their right to do so. If a change is made I disagree with it is unfortunate, but I have no right to demand Ankama revert it. Anyone claiming otherwise needs to accept this. Now onto the grumpy part.

I disagree with an awful lot of the changes made to the game since release and feel like they have made the game less enjoyable to play, not more. I think the inaccessibility of new content is going to drive away players rather than make it more exciting, and the new additions to the game generally feel rushed and incomplete. Perhaps other people are enjoying it (I sincerely hope they do!) but everywhere I look in game it is dead, and every day I play more and more of my friends are deciding to quit the game too.

I'm also not a fan of forced PVP, which is impossible to opt out of as you cannot play beyond Astrub without choosing a nation. Since I've been in government a few times there's a few players in game that think it's hilarious to aggro me 4-6 v 1 and kill me. I don't think this is hilarious, but there you go. Whether Ankama wants to hide behind the 'its a sandbox' excuse or not, forced PVP is a problem with this game and I'll put money on it being a significant cause in players quitting. It's fun for some players organising the guard squad to protect the mines or w/e. It's not fun for the players that are being ganked, over and over, without any way to prevent it or fight back.

Though I think the real nail in the coffin for me was buying a gift for a friend of the Ankama shop (not the wakfu shop) and then having Ankama screw up the delivery of it. The support I received was not particularly caring of the problem and I've paid for an express delivery on a product that was now 2 weeks late due to an error on Ankama's part. Ankama wasn't bothered by this at all. Honestly as much as I want this game to succeed and do well, I don't feel encouraged to give any more money to a company that just seems to not really care at all.

I do want it on record that I think Troyle is doing a good job, however. Keep it up Troyle. If anyone is going to save the game it's you, and I can't think of anyone else that would be doing a better job. Also you crack me up with every one of your posts, I swear. If I had an official seal of approval I'm sure you'd get it.

Today I completely wiped my account. Gave away all my items and kamas, and deleted my characters. I've uninstalled the game and as far as I'm aware I very much doubt I'll be coming back.

Thanks to everyone that I played with, you're all great people and I'll probably miss those I'm not able to keep in touch with. Special mention to Odeen and all the members of the Assknights guild in Sufokia. I love you guys, you're great. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

The random PVP is what makes this game good. It would be really boring when nobody would aggro me.
I would love to get gang raped by 6 iops in a mine to make the game more interesting. I would have a goal then - make some friends, level up and kill those brainless fuckers.

I agree that PvP is a great feature of the game, and also agree that Ankama doesn't seem to care about its customers.

but I look at it another way: to stop caring whether they care or not. ofc in your case it affected your delivery and it's hard to just "forget about it", it's a shame. I feel that you've made a right choice, but also going to miss out on a lot.

don't really know you particularly well, but seen you around a few time, so all the best.

Goodbye, such a shame to see players leave!

I agree, this game has a lot of problems. And during the last month we had "dark times" with world bosses, nun dungeon, poor guild system and stuff. Almost my whole guild (60 people) quit like month ago.
However, now some of them slowly come back to Wakfu, because they see a hope. I like the changes from this patch (except they killed my cra lol). They also said, they're going to do something about pvp in the future. I'll still wait and give a chance to this game.

hm..i got told the customer service thing, its a french thing (in the way shouting at eachother then being buddies is a jersy thing lol) but its bad when they dont understadn that outside of french users, they need to pul their socks up (as the saying goes)

keep poping back to the forums, checking the updates ect, becasue me and a lot of other players are throwing sugestions at them to make the game better, alot of which are geared towards making the PvP side of the game better.
i admit, i dont PvP at all, but since im overburdened with ideas, im quite happy to give them those (especialy if it keeps those same PvPer's from bugging me while im planting my backside off lol)

im sure, if we all give them enough ideas (and nudges in the right direction) we can at least get the game to a decent level of PvP support/gameplay (preferably without it impacting too much on the filthy treehugger hippies like me lol...which is why i allways sugest stuff that benefit me indirectly but benefits the PvPer;s directly..everyon wins ^^)

after all.... we got them to enable P2P inviting F2P into party after sugesting it loudly enough (and reminding them that new F2Pers are likely to be being shown the game by P2P mates and by not letting those mates join those parties, they werent getting a good look at the game, and would hence, not want to sub...forget 'cawwot ona stick', we have to use Kama ona Stick )

as i said to the last person leaving on general section, try watching Salem, since it seems to have at least, the PvP side that many are leaving Wakfu to play. again,i think its still in beta but imsure feedback is allways helpfull for thoseplayers that actualy submit bug reports and dont just play the game *cough..WoW Panda beta cough* XD

Sad to see the good ones go and the "If you don't like it leave" idiots stay. He is giving constructive feedback and all of us can use that and Ankama in particular. Such comments are entirely unnecessary. If you don't want the game to improve or want it to stay unbalanced and bug ridden, then maybe you should be the one to keep quiet.

Can kinda understand your decision Kraed although I disagree with you on the PvP stuff, in my opinion it needs to be harsher rather than softer but that is for another discussion. Ecoterrorism and griefing in general need to be punished more efficiently.

Also, I do like the new patch and their general direction and it makes me stay for now. Even though they ruined my earth cra to be entirely unplayable.

But yeah I am still on the edge of quitting once my sub runs out, depends on what else they will show us. At least some general spells like cras piercing or the infinite AP glyphs I want to see fixed quickly.

That all being said have fun in the outside world even though I didn't know you except for your forum comments
