Beta should have stayed beta, or not?

Beta should have stayed beta, or not? I am under the impression that the beta never ended, except that Ankama now calls it the released official version which allows them to ask you money to sub in order to keep playing what I consider to be an unfinished product (in other words, a beta).

Thus, in fantasy-land (coorporate reality), this makes sense, to dupe the players in paying for a beta product by simply calling it 'The official release'. In any court of law it can be made clear without a doubt that Wakfu simply is not a game out of beta. Simply labeling it 'official release' does not make it so.

Lets quick-review that:

- classes not ready
consequence: any class that you play now might become a broken build later because it isn't a finished product, it isn't ready, and any overhaul/reset is an admission of such by Ankama.

- not all classes playable
consequence: a game-world full of lvl 100 classes while any new additional class will lag behind, requiring even more grinding and sleepless nights if you want to eventually keep up with the high levels in the game (your friends for example).

- not all equipment available
consequence: certain branches - earth for exampe - have a hard time getting equip to get the stats they need, while other classes have the perfect equip for their stats, increasing the imbalance among the different builds and classes even further.

- equipment not balanced
consequence: equipment that you mined your behind off for might get different stats in the next big patch, and equipment that you gave away might then suddenly turn out to be just the thing you need. This causes frustration among the players even more.

What makes a developer of a game do this kind of thing? Money. It is clear that for one reason or another Ankama either needed the money NOW, or was bound by contracts with a sponsor to go official no matter what. So it is either greed or necessity.

Whatever the reason, I feel that even though I enjoy the game, I enjoy it less, because my class can get nerfed or bufed or get an overhaul that simply breaks my build. Sure, sometimes you can adapt your build, no problem, still make it fun to play. But sometimes you can't, and that is a tough pill to swallow when you invested 2 months into a char. That is 2 months that you paid for, and in this economy I think there should be more respect towards your customers/players, than I currently see.

Kinda disapointed.

they were late like 10 years or something like that they had to release it early and make some cash

I strongly agree with TaoZen, some of these sudden changes got to me and my friends, and we don't think of resubbing until we feel that the game is "balanced" so there won't be another one of those.

Which is a shame, because I really enjoy the game, but not enough to pay for a beta.

like a good friend totalbiscuit once said,

sometime funding will end. you rather have them removing the whole project or have them release it incomplete.

personaly the way i see it is that they ran out of funding for wakfu (not going to get dofus involved here)
and they have to release it prematurely.
sure there are allot of problems with the game but unless they get money out of somewhere they cant work on it.

developing isn't free,

This is basically why i quit playing this game... sad cuz, i really enjoy it at the begining (beta) now i have to "PAY" for play, and not just "PAY" for play enough i have to "PAY" for some good equipment to be like one of them... how much money i have to wast to been good at this game, hun? I respect this company and all of the stuff, but this is ridiculous in my opinion, seriously. -1

Greatly put... I feel like this is the case with Wakfu.

you don't pay for equipment.

all equipment (except for makabra) are cosmetic without any value.
granted makabra will be rebalanced soon and for good reason.

From the experience i had with the unsubscribed gameplay i knew the classes where still imba.
But yet i choose to subscribe, i like the game and it's visible that they are working hard, there have been updates on balancing and new content almost monthly.

BUT

What i fear the most it's that i already feel that it is taking the same "grinding" rout of Dofus ( and that's why i quit Dofus)! Everybody ends up going into the same battle over and over with the same mobs to lvlup, the updates are basically new monster to kill to drops new sets or items.

I think quests, leveling professions, exploration of new areas, ecosystems and anything else should give at least some XP, just so eveybody don't end up having to get a groups and grind all day, grind should be enforced only to excel to something specific (getting all spells to lvl 100 for example).

Dungeons shouldn't be just go and kill everything in front of you. There should be more mechanics to make the bosses at reach and then to make bosses vulnerable to attacks, it seem that happens on higher lvl boses, but again to reach high level you are conditioned into grinding.

To finish, what i just hope is: That other things are as interesting as classes mechanics are, to be cool and interesting, to get you thinking and adapting.

I hope someone here will prove me wrong and show otherwise and that i was just ranting out of topic!
