No wonder the game is dying

No wonder the game is dying Welcome friends!

Note: I don't know much about this game, I've only been reading these forums for a few hours and I'm just level 7.
Try not to hate me.

Me and my friend would have already subscribed today, but I always read forums first to see what people think. All the negativity around this forum is what might have lost this game two new subscriptions.
The thing is: If I see "It's dying" written somewhere, then It's automatically a turn off for me (and other new players) so the reason it actually dies is because someone says it does, lol get it?
Who would want to play a dying game. It cannot live without new players, and the word "dead" is what makes it hard to GET new players.

I also read some posts why people quit and half of the reasons aren't that good really.

I think tiny bugs and lack of content is not much to cry about. It's not like you need to LIVE in the game anyway and bugs will get fixed eventually.
It is kind of lame to have an item shop with items that really help combat in the game PLUS a subscription, but I can see they spent a lot of money creating this game and it really hasn't been a big hit so far. €6 a month is not really expensive for anyone. You can't even buy food for one day with less than €6. Start paying and praying the game gets better. If nobody pays it will stay crappy.

PS: Funny how people usually blame the publisher and usually when a game dies it's because the publisher is stupid and greedy, but the thing that makes Wakfu stand out is that this time people blame the developers which is pretty new for me lol.

The problem of this game, isnt that its dying. its more like it wasn't born yet, its only been "released" a month ago.

The complaints are reasonable. We pay 5£ a month for a game that isn't to a commercial standard. The ammount we pay doesn't matter. We have less content than what we had in beta.

The item shop doesnt enchance your combat other than that one set of level 100... Infact other than costumes, everything can be acquired in game.

When a publisher forces you to pay for 700 points twice for a 800 points subscription... yeah they are stupid and greedy.

Is the forum negative? Perhaps but that's because the publishers aren't satasfying everyone isn't it? If you think 6€ isn't much then subscribe.

PS: Subway PLC = 3£ for a meal menu.
Bag of bread + butter + cheese = 4£, food for a week.
Pack of instant noodles = 11 cents.

Comments like "6£ is nothing" only makes you look spoiled.

I don't know where you live and how you live... even the combined food items you listed aren't enough for a week's ration (massive LOL @ bag of bread + butter + cheese = food for a week), they'd keep you going yes but I don't know anyone who eats that little in a week, maybe the homeless people (and I mean no disrespect to them, I used to work in shelter homes when I was in university). And since you listed prices in sterling, I assume you live in the UK, and I'd like to know where you can get instant noodles for 11 cents (do you mean 'pence'?)

If you think £6 is a lot and still playing this game, get a job.

Kurochikun, You do realize AT MOST you need to work for 2 hours to play this game for 30 days?

There's really no difference for most players if this costs €3 or €6 a month because the numbers are so small, but for the developers it's VERY important.

Imo people earning less than €60 a day shouldn't even think of luxury like entertainment.
In my world games would be illegal for a regular hired hand.

Well in Poland, I have to work 1-2 hours to play this game for 7 days.

Lol what? You think you should have more rights, because you're rich? What is this, XVIII century?

Long story short: Don't subscribe now. Game really is dying. It was pretty nice in first 3 weeks but now all locations are basicly empty. Only few very high level players are still in.

Overall game is not worth it. I pity all these poor kids who subscribed for one year... they are basicly trolled by Ankama.

This game will go F2P with overpowered P2W items in game shop or it will die VERY soon.

Better just wait for Diablo 3

Well, they released unfinished game with p2p and p2w. We don't know, are they even working on Wakfu. I mean, in every "patch" they just release things, which were already on beta.
It could be even possible, that they aren't going to spend any resources on Wakfu. Just slowly release Beta content and gain money until people still play.

Dofus is dying, Wakfu is dying. For me it looks like they just want to make as much money as possible as fast as possible without worrying about the future.

All I know is that I will say "good bye" to Ankama in the moment, when some serious company will release turn-based mmorpg. Because the lack of competition is the only thing, that saves Ankama.

At least let me reassure you on this point.
There is a complete team working on developing new content, alongside reworking what was already in Beta.

Resources are being spent to improve the game. We're really far from letting it die.

Ok then, let's hope we won't have to wait for it for too long.

Yeah. It's really bad MMO experience when you have the best class for so long without any nerf (and still bugged!).

Lol don't worry i was giggling when typing that. Btw I never said i was rich, I'm poor, but I'm working hard to earn a lot more in the future.

Also I know for a fact that resources are being spent to keep this game alive because I was working on one of my websites when I saw Wakfu's advertisement on one of my ads.

What are you talking about? The game isn't dying at all. Incarnam is always full, Bonta is always full, new islands are always full. How is it dying? I don't see any less people than it was at the beginning (except Asturb of course).
Maybe if you would spend more time in the game playing than complaining on forums, you would see that a lot of people are enjoying the game, including me. And it's far from lacking of content or dying. It's been just a month or two, and we already got 2 big updates. Next one is coming soon.
Yes, there is still a lot to do, but even now it's super fun. And if it's not for you, don't play untill it will be. Simple...

And yes, if I would come to forum first and read it, I would think that this game must be terrible, because people are only complaining here.

2 weeks ago we usually had 30 people online in my guild and today... 2 or 3 guys. The rest just got bored and decided to play something else.
But if you didn't notice anything, I'm happy for you.

posté April 11, 2012, 14:34:40 | #15
Way over 30 players online daily in our guild, Monk island was insanely populated when it opened and still is.

Sure... Never listen to the forums. Most ppl who are enjoying the game never visit the forums.
The game is far from perfect, need a lot of work, but its great, i'm having a lot of fun.

Most forum ppl are just bored, so they come to forums to complain about something. See, if players statements were anything close to true, WOW is dying for 8 years now. =)

All I know is that I will say "good bye" to Ankama in the moment, when some serious company will release turn-based mmorpg. Because the lack of competition is the only thing, that saves Ankama.
It's called innovation.

Ankama is the first MMO developer that actually took the usual model and flipped it upside down.

No Warriors. No Tanks. No Mages. No standard crap we know from 95 % of all games out there.

Ankama took a completely different approach, and it worked. That's the reason why games like Aion, Rift, SWTOR, ect. aren't doing great, and I'm stunned that people are legitimately surprised about that.

No one dares to make a turnbased MMOSRPG, because that is different from WoW, and the current MMO industry have this odd idea that anything that if the formula isn't "Our game = WoW" then it automatically means that "Our game = Fail"

And I agree. People constantly yelling, whining and crying on this forum is getting sad, and I doubt OP is the only one turned off by the constant yelling. Ironically, a lot of the people who keep flaming the game and calling it dead, is people who claim to wish the best for the game. Oh the irony.

Of course, the bugs is a whole other discussion - Balancing issues and bugs is Ankama's job to fix, and our job is to complain about it till it get's to that. But people showing off their inner drama-queen to announce that they quit the game is getting old. Go to WoWhead, and watch their reaction when someone does that. It's pretty much similar to my own. "Oh really? You want to quit? Then why the fuck are you still here?."

If you dislike the game, go away. Let those of us who enjoy it have our fun for miniscule amounts of money per month. I agree with the cheapness - I spend an average of 5 $ a day a dinner, which doesn't include breakfast or lunch. I'm a poor-ass student, yet I can still afford this game without breaking my economy. Of course, the difference between countries vary, and Denmark is without a doubt better off than, say, Poland (It's not without reason that we have a bunch of Polish workers up here - Our pay is much better. Even Swedish people come to work in Denmark. Still, I don't even have a job yet, and I can still afford this.)

Ironically, he wasn't complaining all that much about the game - It was the community, which you, ironically, proved was spot on.

I love these kinds of people.

the reason the game may seem dead to a lot of players is simply becasue so many players are in RushRush mode.
if they arent max level befor the month is out, they think something is wrong.
many players are now bored becasue they DID everything allready. they rushed to do it. and now they have to wait til there is new content.
(you might say they went Cra, and saw everything in a week or two?)

now sometimes its best to just take your time. though they might need to tweek the weekly payment back in places, and consider using Ogrine Cards in stores (i know there is a nice company that can create GameTime cards for your games, as advertised in MVC a couple of weeks back) so that you could get the cards via post or supermarket ect. heck if moshi monsters and club penguin can have one, why cant Wakfu/Dofus?

we also need to add more for the PvP crowd. these are the ones that get bored the fastest becaue they speed level to max THEN want to play becasue its all about being max and pwning noobs ect for them (or, alternatively, facing like geared and like skilled opponents of equal level)

but considering the games been outa Beta for a couple of months, they are doing okay.
