New player thoughts

New player thoughts Before I say anything, I want to make it clear, that this post is not intended to hate or show any negative thoughts from me. It's just the impressions of a new player and the reasons behind them.

First of all, the big yellow button saying "Play for Free" is absolutely not needed and only creates confusion and anger among newcomers. I started playing Wakfu, because I wanted to try something different and thought I would be able to enjoy the game fully. Turns out I ran through the free part in about an hour or so. It's cool, I had the opportunity to subscribe for a week, using the sms option, which is great, cuz it's a lot easier and doesn't require you to have a credit card. So, after the subscription, I find out that the game requires more mindless grinding than any other game. I've grinded like crazy for 3 days, got to level 30, with 4 professions between 20-30 and I got bored. I don't see a point to subscribe to a game that has no fun in leveling your character and your professions and just requires enormous amounts of time in grinding.

Second, you can't reset your character's abilities and specialties and that's awful. I've read about ppls opinions on this and I understand the 'exploiting' point of view, that this can offer. But on the other hand, as a new player you don't know what you should do and even some of the descriptions are not very accurate, so you're bound to make mistakes in your points distribution. I made a fire sac and was leveling all strength, agility and chance for some reason, because they all say that increase damage and resistance to their respective elements, which is understood as all increase your damage. It's later that I found out I only needed intelligence, cuz it's the only thing that helps my fire attacks and I found it on another forum. So, it would be great if players have the option of at least 1 abilities/specialties reset.

Third, as I've said already, the leveling system is awfully repetitive and boring and that's the main reason I got bored of the game so fast. All quests I've done so far are the same and running around collecting resources to level your professions is pretty boring and can get very frustrating when there's 10 more ppl doing the same, except they get to the resources before you, so you're just running in circles doing nothing. The Lumberjack and Trapper profs. are okay, I guess, the Herbalist prof is easy and fast enough to not get you bored, but the miner prof. is awful. 10 seconds per node is too damn slow. Good thing I did what I do in every mmorpg I start - keep everything until your inv is full, so I had some resources to level crafting professions a little, but after that having to grind a couple more days just to level the same profession around 10 lvls? No thanks.

Fourth, you can't change your nation. I've joined a nation, just because I had it as a quest and it was pointing me to a totally different npc than the nation I wanted. You should be able to at least change your nation once, as with the points reset, because you need time to find out which nation suits you best.

I've seen a lot of ppl online, that say they can't subscribe. No matter the reason, I do agree that having a f2p banner on the site is more misleading and rude for new players, than helping build up a population of players. It's like telling the people you can play it and than showing them a middle finger. And it's definitely not possible to judge if the game is worth the subscription just from Astrub.

Wish all the best for the game, but I'm outta here! Good luck!

Well, i felt the same, until i joined guild and started to care about our nation. This game is boring solo, but once you set goals, like be the best handyman there is, explore the mines find treasure, fight in dungeons. Most of all join a guild. When i started to run dungeons, i felt so much better.

Its fun with other classes , and this isn't like other games where you mash buttons, you have to think what you do and co-op with others. Well most of the time.

Collecting things , crafting equipment , messing with other nations resources, building your nation, discovering wakfu and stasis source , Opening new areas, going to war with other nations and so on. Its a sand box, do what you wan't , but the best is join a guild. and will change the way you play.
