Element scaling.

Element scaling. So is the element scaling static to a class or based on how much you use a certain element?

I'm using nothing but Earth skills and my water damage is the equivalent of my Earth damage modifier yet I havn't used a single water skill since I created my character, or fire for that matter.

Try being more specific, i'm not understanding what is the answer you're looking for.

Are you asking if elemental damage is in any way related to your character's level other than your mastery in the same branch spells?

Just to make it clear, elemental damage is affected by:
  • Statistics, such as intelligence, chance, agility and strenght.
  • Damage modifiers like equipment, adding X% fire, water, air or earth damage.
  • Elemental skills mastery, scaling with the level of the Skill branch the damage is related to. I.e. Using fire skills will increase your fire damage and resistance.
Hope that's what you were asking for.

Yeah, this one. I think.

Where you press P and you see the offensive and resistance of the 4 elements. It goes up as you level and I was wondering if it goes up according to your class, or based on what you use.

'Cause I've been using nothing but Earth spells and I have +3% Earth Damage, +3% Water Damage and +3% Fire Damage.
With no equipment.

There used to be a system in Beta where you gained bonus elemental damage and resistance in proportion to the sum of all your skill levels in that element. I believe it was removed in January (When the elemental affinity stats were introduced), but seems to have returned for release. This is good news to me!

Oh, it turns out I did have equipment that was aiding in the Water/Fire elements.

I expected my Earth to be higher than 2% though. One of my Earth skills is level 14 (the rest are all 2 or 0)

Still wondering how it works though. Will I get more Earth Damage if I increase my other Earth skill levels like Grich said?

Back then was somewhat like +2% damage +1% resistance every 5 spell lvl.s of an Elementary branch are reached, it is probably different now, but the formula should be the same.

Notice that it applies everytime 5 spell lvl.s are reached in a determined branch, doesn't matter if spell A is lvl. 3 and Spell B is lvl. 2, you will still get the bonus as summed up they are 5 lvl.s.

Yeah it is lol.

Just got +1 level in an Earth spell then and got an extra 1% more Earth damage.
