What's your opinion about the lock system?
I think it's a gimmick, honestly, it's just pointless and it just add more of "luck" to the game. Of course all games have this element of "randomness", but I think that this mechanic forces the player to rely on locking the enemy/not being locked by him too much.
And it's just not intuitive, putting points in lock/dodge is still useless because it's mainly working is ways you can't even see if it's helping at all. I think it's a pretty broken stat. What do you think about it? |

It should be removed completely, they make playing an Earth Enu completely impossible, as well as getting destroyed as a Cra, and any class that requires range for that matter.

Losing turns because of dodge fails is just stupid, it makes classes that are already strong enough way more stronger. It would be a lot better if after a dodge fail your MP were reduced to zero and you gained 1 level of Dodger, which gives +10 Dodge, making the next attempt to escape (in the next turn) higher.

It worked well in Dofus. The close-range classes depended on it, the long-range ones dreaded it.

the stupid thing on this system is having +95% of dodging and get tackled twice... But i prefer this system to the Dofus one (that is in game right now) :/
I guess the best way would be just to lose mp when tackled just like Arthropoda said. |

I think the biggest problem right now is that it isn't working properly, not that the system just exists. You need minimal levels of lock (in the teens at best) to get something like a 75% chance of locking someone with no dodge.
I do like the idea of losing all mp though, rather than instantly skipping your turn. It should just lock you in melee range, not prevent you from being able to attack. |

I'm just glad critical fail doesn't happen UNLESS it is applied via debuff, I still have nightmares from Dofus.

Imo dodge/lock system shouldn't be removed, but we need something like "Release" spell from Dofus. Without it, pvp will never be balanced.
I just played Enu and lose fight to the Panda. All he did was to throw me into corner and cover with barrel. And that's it, gg. He probably could do the same thing with half of the classes. However, this dodge/lock system is kinda random, imo. I tried to test tank Iop build with lock items and maxed Expert Locker spell. But it was so unreliable, that I couldn't even exp effectively on "escaping" mobs. This post has been edited by krowakot - February 22, 2012, 09:45:39. |
