Lied? Wakfu plans to launch in February 2012, with a hybrid free-to-play model that includes a free download and a “large amount” of content available for free, with additional content available for a $6 monthly subscription fee. The game will also offer a cash shop for cosmetic items.

What part of this has anything to do with lies?

The launch is on February 29th.

The hybrid free-to-play model will indeed include a free download and an area where free accounts can play.

Additional content will be available for a $6 or 6€ or £6 monthly subscription fee.

Where did you get the information about the cosmetic cash shop? I have not seen any official information about this.

The first post is just a copy-and-paste quote of a story that appeared on several gaming websites, about Square's announcement of the Open Beta in the US, which happened with the 0.311 update.

Like the "open beta is just starting now" part of that announcement, the cash shop will apparently also be NA only - i.e., Square-Enix's domain.

So I'm not sure what the "lie" here is, either, unless he thought that "launch in February 2012" meant "launching on the stroke of Midnight, February 1st, 2012".

Don't think so mate, the cash shop people are referring to is Ogrines shop, if they decides to put ogrine system into wakfu, all versions will have it. But it's yet not implanted. Probably will be there sometimes after launch if not at launch.

As for what OP said, Wakfu is exactly what they described. Don't know what he is talking about...

Taken from SE-Derek NA:

  • It has elements of free to play, Allowing you unlimited time to log in and try the game without worrying trial of an overhead timer nor loosing friends upon a lapse in membership.
  • Provides low-end subscription revenue while Ensuring sustained the un-viable and Exploited player-controlled sandbox game while still offering everything at +50% less cost than Any Other Competing product ($ 6 vs. $ 15) outside of excellant sister, DOFUS.
  • Optional cash shop offsets additional company expenses without Affecting in-game balance while Allowing the channel of Greater character customization for the user at any level.

Overall, we're quite reasonable. No upfront purchases. In requirements. And the worry about Trying to stay competitive through cash shop users.

There you go.

Cheers
