News from the CMs, [merged thread]
posté January 27, 2012, 13:31:12 | #1
News from the CMs Just wanted to give you a heads up about a little piece of news by the spanish community manager, that I don't seem to see anywhere around here.

  • The next patch won't be gold release, but will have some new stuff.
  • There will be changes for Pandawas and Sacriers
  • One of the Sacrier's elemental trees will focus on tanking.
  • Pandawa's water branch will be more flexible.
  • They are working in other professions but will release the changes one by one, to study their impact separately.

I'm fine with all of this and I'm excited to see the changes in the Sacrier. However, was it really prioritary? I feel Ankama is misplacing their priorities right now, to be honest. Sacs and Pandawas might not be perfect but there are professions that sit on both extremes of horrible imbalance (Feca and Sram, underpowered and overpowered respectively).

I think those classes, as well as those currently removed, should take more priority (aside from other general issues like the spell levelling system)

But hey, news are news.

Thanks for the updates and I couldn't agree more. I am still baffled how they could release the Sram like this while basically nerfing every other class. He would have even been too strong in the old environment.

Fecas are probably the weakest class right now, but imo they put cras right next to them with the last patch. Cras already were borderline since the melee characters all have methods to close the range gap, while Cra is the only class where pushing costs wp and they need those pushes the most. Not only that, they also made beacons entirely useless and nerfed the already underwhelming earth branch in particular destructive arrow. Nobody was using that spell anyway because of the wp cost and now they made it 90% less effective. The only thing they buffed up are the fire spells when fire was already the strongest branch and didn't need any buffing.

Weird balancing policies they got there...

The spell leveling and also the mess they made with the new abilities need fixing too, yeah. Adding half a dozen new stats sems to be entirely thoughtless to me especially 2 months before offical release. One needs to test such things thoroughly and not just add and see what is going to happen. Funniest was when a dev said in the Q&A this was their fix to the overpowered HP stat. Lol. Adding some useless stats to confuse people is a fix to an overpowered stat now?

Ah well I better stop right here or I will convince myself it would be better not to pay for this game.

Hey guys Hope the wait for launch isn't killing you! It sure is killing me a little by little! haha. Since it looks like our international forum is the only one that never gets any news about whats going on, I thought I would try to update you guys when I find news from the NA and FR forums. So we on the international side also gets some news feed! Hope you enjoy it!

News #1:

Written by SE-Derek (NA):

Ecaflips will be in the next patch before launch, as promised. Masqueraiders and Rogues will still be withheld under later. The Much Discussed Ogrest Also Chaos will make it's debut, along with another big system to address "goals", but no details for a little while longer.

We're working to get a formalized letter to the community from the Development team shortly.

News #2:

Few days ago, the french wakfu had a ''Meet the Devs'', where the hot topic was on their community manager Zidrune who's going to leave wakfu, but what I found most interesting was some of the changes they where talking about for the upcoming patch.

- Pandawa gameplay will be remade especially the Water Branch
- Cra beacons gonna get a boost
- Earth Sac's gonna be ''tanking'' with a new system of angrr

News #3

Written by SE-Derek (NA):

(So you guys dont get confused while reading his statement, the topic is about the open world pk system, there has been discussion about open world pk and that its made too easy on those who decides to pk others while not getting punished enough.)

Hey guys,

Just to reiterate, we are looking into the community's concern. There's a big discussion going on Internally if the system Should Be Changed, and if so, how it Should Be handled and modified / developed to best preserve Both Worlds (Protect Those That Do not want to fight, and Those who enjoy doing it). While not a promise in any direction, Currently this is what is happening (and if something is Decided, It May take a wee bit to Implement development cycles since any in-the-works would need to be completed Beforehand).

On a related note, we have recommended to the developers Also the Implementation of an arena, but nothing has yet Been Confirmed, Either.

Thanks for your patience and correct understanding here.

Meanwhile, please feel free to keep the discussion going and ideas flowing - just keep in mind That we are aware of the situation.

News #4

Next bit of news is about the upcoming patch and balancing.

Written by SE-Derek (NA):

We appreciate your concerns, but Simply Are not we done balancing, nor, will there be a "perfect patch" where everything is nice and tidy. The next patch will have a nice level of balancing is Several classes, including of course the Sram. The Sacrier Also will get some attention, among others. But in summery, That we acknowledge there needs some balancing, and many concerns are Already Being worked on. We will proceed to work on it, and Most Likely is a very long time, in-fact, most games never stop balancing (That the particular game ends in '-craft' Has Been Nearly balancing for 6 + years, for example).

Thanks for this news too. If this is all going to become real then I still have hope for this to be an amazing game. I had lost faith in the devs a little after the latest "balancing" they did.

One maybe stupid question: What is Ogrests Chaos?

Welcome ! Yeah I know what you mean, the devs seems confused!

No question is stupid! (Unless its asked 200 times before? hehe) But I'm not too sure about it either, I'll probably update you once more info is out about it, but I think its like the end boss for wakfu. My assumption is based on this:

''In the time of Dofus, an ogre named Ogrest managed to get all 6 Dofus eggs for the sake of someone he loved. However, she was interested only in the eggs, and Ogrest killed her in a fit of rage. Later realizing what he'd done, he climbed to a mountaintop and cried for 1000 years. This brings us to the time of WAKFU. Now the "goal" is to defeat Ogrest, but, like Dofus, this is not necessary''

Cheers!

Ecaflip is available again
Sram is going to be "balanced"
Cra will have stronger beacon
Sacrier will be stronger and change in the angrr function

What does it mean by Sram being balanced?

Just curious.

If a class being "balanced" Means that they will be nerfed :p

Like the water Xelor before, Water Xelor used to be the strongest class before. But Amakna balance it,
making its last spell nerfed

Which it needs.

Thanks for the infos on the Ogrest thing. I knew the background story on what Ogrests Chaos is in the storyline of Wakfu, but I was curios if there were any news how it is going to be implemented into the game in terms of mechanics.

I think I might start taking bets on Wakfu not even releasing in 2012, let alone February. What exactly is the need for plumbing and electricity?

Quote (Burgingham @ 27 January 2012 13:49) *
Ah well I better stop right here or I will convince myself it would be better not to pay for this game.
Maybe you should leave it up to Ankama to convince you it is worth spending money on as opposed to ignoring your own thoughts warning you against it.

Ah noes. If they add a PvP arena to that game I will just not play it. Dofus already has this pointless and static fighting system, don't bring it to Wakfu please.

Cras are one of the most balanced classes of Wakfu now. I hope Sacriers and Pandawas become balanced too, then they'll need to focus on all other classes now that are or too strong or too weak. They'll need to postpone the date or rush with the testing, otherwise this game will become an eternal P2P Beta Test, just like DOFUS.

Well, these used to be two threads that apparently got merged now. If you read my second comment then you can see that the news posted are actually quite exciting to me and I am full of hope this will turn the game around for good.
