did a lot of the English-speaking players go to Different Servers?

Nothing strange about it. Pings to US servers are usually higher than to EU which is obvious,but 94 ping is pretty nice and shouldnt ruin gaming experience.

Eh, apparently this had already been mentioned but I can't find the thread detailing it.

I used to have a cra character in the Remington server, Brakmar, level 20, decent miner, couple of hundred kamas in my pouch, tried to log in today after leaving it for a week or so and once I'd downloaded and installed the patch it tells me that I don't have a character anymore.

Is there a way I can reclaim him or has he been moved to another server or what? I'm from Northern Ireland so I'm part of the UK server thingy, probably.

Most players are not online playing properly yet, they are waiting for Feburary 29th, and the few that are online now are probably testing.

no Its not solid , but from experience i can tell when they just say Feburary, They mean the end of the month, its a marketing tool. (and have you seen the state of this game they need all the time they can get. I got hints of it from the Developers speach on the american forums)

I play this game with 350~400 PING everyday.
Trust me, PING does not play a large factor in this unless you go to high levels in the 1000's.

Plus 94 is amazing.

That's not exactly as you say, of course its easier to get direct dev attention on french forums, but that's because they're french, after all. During test servers for example, they hang out in amakna zaap and even use a translator to speak with players in english (some understand english better and don't need it).

The servers have been wiped on the last patch, so all characters were deleted.
