Go and play something that really is
difficult and unforgiving first.
Everything he said. Roguelike games are very fun to play, the random unforgiving element of the game will kill you just because it wants to. You can do everything perfect everything right- have the best spec, the best gear, the best tactics and you will still die in a rogue like game.
I rolled a Sram my first character. Kerlim lv60 Sram with the Beta title and gear. 1 week in and 60 levels later I came to the conclusion Srams suck and they don't fit my play style. I loved my Sram because it was so challenging to play a Sram in order to get that back stab and being rewarded for it but it simply had to go. So I made a Sac, then I decided that my entire guild calls me Kerlim and having another name will be awkward and confusing so I deleted my lv 60 Sram with my beta title and survivor set.
Do you see me complaining about rerolling another character? Gamers now days expect instant gratification. Once upon a time games were hard and we spent hours on those games to beat them so that we can tell our friends "Hey, I beated this game".
*Edit*
by the way its perma death in all roguelike games.
