Ability Points, Where?
posté October 17, 2011, 17:24:03 | #1
Ability Points This isn't really branch specific, but I'm playing a Fire Enu.

I've seen plenty of threads saying where to put my special ability points, but where should I put my normal ones? Do I go for HP to survive longer? Prospecting? Save for AP?

Thanks for any help!

You shouldn't save up points to raise your AP/MP. In the current Beta, it's not a bad idea to put points into Wisdom to level up faster and wait for the next reset of skillpoints in order to buy these later.

For example, you might have a chance that a skill reset happens once the Sufokia patch is applied.

The Enutrof is basically a jack of all trades when it comes to attributes. You'll be close enough to the fight to get hit occasionally, so you'll need some HP. Occasionally, enemies will try to catch you in melee, so dodge is also nice. On the other hand, you're hardy enough to be able to take a few hits for your allies, so a few points in lock could help as well. Initiative is as for everyone else: nice to have, but probably low on the priorities list, compared to the other attributes.
Just 1 extra AP won't help you that much, seeing how fire spells don't combo that well with each other, and your main attack will be 4 AP with a 2 AP "filler" spell. It will help a lot of you intend to use other elements (Which you really should), as well. And in general, you can't have too many AP.
MP, on the other hand, will be really useful since you'll be running around all the time, trying to line up your shots with mines, or moving mines around.

Prospecting is a speical case for you, though: unlike other classes, it'll add to your damage as well. It's rather expensive, though, requiring a change of 5 points to see any effect with the respective skill maxed out. Still, the extra loot is nice, even though I haven't bothered comparing it to a character without points in prospecting.

In the end, it all comes down to your personal preference and play style.
