Earth Osamodas newbie needs some help
Hello there fellow , pig.. i mean gobblet wranglers. I am in dire need of some helpfull advice from more experienced players.
I just started wakfu and after reading the wiki for a while i decided to go with an osamodas, more precisely an earth osamodas since i liked the idea of fighting alongside your summons instead of cowering behind them. BUT! I havent got the first idea on how to build one. ( hell i dont know the first thing about any character building ) So here are the questions (forgive me for being so clueless) -Where do i put my attribute points? -What skills should i lvl up with the skill points first? -Any tactic suggestions for PvE (i am still in the tutorial heaven area so yeh..) -What should i aim to procure gear wise? -Is earth osamodas viable by itself or do i need to go hybrid with fire? -> if hybrid is the way to go : what elemental skills should i focus on using/leveling? Thanks O great osamodas masters! |

1. Go full HP. You won't need anything else.
2. My advice is Gobgob to level 6, then Gobup to level 6 (or vice-versa, it depens on how you play), then level these two to 9. Afterwards go with a passive, the one that you believe it's more useful. Be aware that Leadership for Osas isn't really useful, since you'll be using most of the times a monster with a higher level rather than two low-level monsters (Osas' summons' total level can't exceed the Osa's one). 3. Not really. Just mind the number of summon you have in the Gobgob (when a summon dies, the number of it in the Gobgob decreases) and try to have more monsters with different effects, like Larvae (the green one and the purple one decrease respectively dodge and lock by 50 for every turn they attack, which means that the first turn enemy's dodge/lock is decrerased by 50, the second turn by 100, the third one by 150 et cetera) 4. Gobball set is the best for levels 10-30. 5. I don't now that, since I myself play an hybrid earth/fire, which is, in my opinion better that the earth alone. With fire spells you can boost summon's stats without changing it's AI (which may be good in some situations, like for example when you want to boost damage and you don't want to lose the summons). Also most fire spells have AoE, which means you can hit the enemy and boost the summon at the same time. |

1. Where do i put my attribute points?
May I suggest all to Health Points at least when you are starting out. I strongly believe having more HP do benefit at this stage. 2. What skills should i lvl up with the skill points first? Gobgob and Gobup will be important. A higher Gobup to get stronger summons (i.e. summon has higher HP, dodge, ) Higher Gobgob just allows you to have more slots for different types of summons and lower the cost of casting Gobgob. The maximum number of slots is 5. Depending on your playing style, some osamodas do level up Animal Blessing at an early stage (increases Leadership, thus the total number of summons when in a battle). However, I feel if you really need the extra Leadership point you can use a Pilgrim Staff which isn't expensive or too hard to craft. Click here 3. Any tactic suggestions for PvE (i am still in the tutorial heaven area so yeh..) Googoo, a level 6 monster does decent damage for its low level. Some Osamodas (when they reach level 12) would summon two Googoo (blue to heal, red for damage buff, etc...) While others will just get Tofu or Gobball (both level 10). 4. What should i aim to procure gear wise? I don't think you need to spend kamas for low level gears. Just ask around, you will be doing people a favor to free up space in their storage/bags. Or simply join a friendly guild which are willing to help new players like yourself. HP gears are nice. Earth or Fire, depending pn your preference. 5. Is earth osamodas viable by itself or do i need to go hybrid with fire? -> if hybrid is the way to go : what elemental skills should i focus on using/leveling? I have seen "pure Earth" and "pure Fire" Osamodas. Both path seems viable, just different playing style. The two most powerful spells are Curve (Earth) and Boohowl (Fire), which at level 100 does -75HP and -65HP raw damage. There is a guide available on www.wakfu.com/na/forum (North America) entitled: The Astrubian Guide to New Osas! by Majesty. I'm not too experienced wish Osas, but I suggest against levelling Gobgob too early. The greatest limiter to your summons is your own level, second perhaps is your leadership. Gob slots are rarely an issue. You can stack multiples of the same creature type on the same slot if you need reserves.

I disagree. Increasing GobGob level decreases its cost, and slots are always useful: keeping some Googoo and Astrubian Rose at low levels could be really handy, as well as larvae at higher levels. Not to mention that leveling Gobup instead is as useless as it is leveling Gobgob: low-level monsters have low damage bonuses, and usually the summon's damage is the same as the original monster's, while HPS don't really matter since monsters rather attack the caster than the summon.

Another question, being an Osa, is it necessary to add 1 AP when you reach lvl 31 ??
I know health will help, but adding a AP makes you use more spells. |

Silence, if your agrument for Gobgob is that it's as useless as a spell you've arbitrarily chosen. Then that doesn't make much sense.
1.) Reducing the casting cost of gobgob for non-air builds is trivial. You will only reliably use it if you fail to keep your summons alive. An issue mitigated by picking other skills. 2.) You will outgrow your Astrubian roses within a few hours. Hence, your use of usually is misleading. As most of the grind is with higher-leveled mobs that do rely on their damage bonus. You will want a maxed gobup eventually. The same can't be said for gobgob, as you may elect to purchase phoenix or something instead. 3.) HP does matter. Mobs will target your summons. PVP strategy against you usually involves wrecking your glass cannon of a summon before targetting yourself. You will find yourself wishing you had phoenix, gobup, or even prespic hairs. As you waste wakfu after wakfu summoning things that get wiped out by a alpha-strike turn after turn. Even when you're trying to tank for your summons. I find it worrisome that you're suggesting maxing a skill that could potentially spoil and entire earth osa's build as a first thing. If anything, even if new osas disagree with the theory, at the very least save leveling gobgob for much later, until you learn more about the game to make your own decisions. Osamodas, the way it is, aren't good on PvP. They are more focused on PvM.
Gobgob is good to be leveled, as you must summon 6 creatures in a boss fight, and gobgob should be used to capture. At level nine, this skill don't cost WP, and has 4 range. that alone makes for its rare use. |

All skills become more powerful when they level up, but that in itself cannot be used as an argument for leveling up the skill if you fail to discuss what you are missing. By leveling up Gobgob, you neglect to level up one other skill that will come into play more often.
Quote Gobgob is good to be leveled, as you must summon 6 creatures in a boss fight
Gobgob has nothing to do with actually summoning captured creates. You're thinking of Gobup. Quote gobgob should be used to capture.
Of course, and you don't need a maxed Gobgob for that. One could argue that winning fights more easily because of your other skills makes the chore of capturing easier to manage. Quote At level nine, this skill don't cost WP, and has 4 range. that alone makes for its rare use.
Excellent. The utterly useless star (unless you're feeding and performing symbiosis), is now even cheaper. Forget that your dropping say a 20% chance to revive, or damage reflection. Because now that miserable star can be summoned further! Look into the opportunity costs of Gobgob, and you will find that dumping too many points into it is a mistake. Suggesting that people max it early is criminal. This post has been edited by delve-deeper - January 31, 2012, 16:34:18. |
