Update size and quality concerns

Update size and quality concerns It's beginning to come to my attention that the update and patches released for Wakfu are very minor considering most of the games content requires a sub.

I've been playing Wakfu for about 2 month now and I can't help but feel updates consist mostly of minor tweaks which often create more issues than they fix and do not consist of enough extra content, I see people pointing this out consistently in game on on forum, people noting spell and character imbalances, issues such as the Feca's Fecastopheles have been there untouched since i've started playing.

However I feel Ankama have been inconsistent in explaining what is taking so long and seem to consistently fail in bringing out fixes which actually have more positive impacts upon the game than negative.

I have repeatedly mentioned issues to members of staff; such as Crackler summons producing further summons in combat, the Super Iop punch glitching and resulting in the attack not doing damage and the Iop occupying the same cell as the target. Sometime when I've mentioned these I've been told it has been raised in a feedback log but the members of staff in question have also stated they rarely hear anything back from the feedback or do not believe anything will be done about it.

Even if the game was not updated as often for a short period of time so they could find the route cause of such issues and rectify them, I'd like to know Ankama's perspective of such concerns and that of my fellow consumers.

I personally would like to see better communication from Ankama on what they are working on whether they have succeeded in said targets and future plans for content.

Please note this is not intended to cause trouble but merely bring to note the concerns which many other players have and that many of said players speaking about such things feel let down in this regard, as do I myself.

Please Ankama could we have more information about future developement, expected timescales and maybe a reason for the issues we seem to be getting with every update and hotfix producing as many bugs/glitches as they fix.

What is Ankamas stance on future content, I understand you are trying to "balance" the current character classes and spells in use in the game however what does that consist of and why does it feel your consumers are being left in the dark?

I agree with this post.

I am a professional programmer. As a programmer, handling bugs is my day to day routine. So I know there are a handful of programs or method out there that can help us, programmers, to maintain the good codes and repair the bad ones. We can isolate the problems and return to previous version if we need to and start fixing from fresh again.

That knowledge makes me question how you maintain your coding in Ankama. Because every time you create a hotfix there'll be another hotfix and so on. New hotfix repairs or usually not repairs old bugs, but definitely introduces new bugs. And I also question how Ankama does its beta testing.

I see that Ankama has enough time to do its job on Wakfu, if Ankama only focus on finishing Wakfu. Or at least dedicate enough resource to accomplish that.

I hope that with informing us your schedule, you can be more responsible and careful in updating this game.

they are probably using the same programs that EA uses to fix bugs inthe sims3...every patch breaks something else after fixing stuff.
hell, Pets broke their own store content...

so i wouldnt be surprised if they were using the same program lol.
at least their bugs seem smaller and less game killing (to me anyway lol) at ankama

I've been pondering on this post since I've put it up, I've been considering the possibility that Ankama is making new bugs in order to passify us, after all MMO fans always want new content and their is alot of pressure on the company to do this, if Ankama were to insert a glitch here and there, blaming it on their 'hotfix' they can hide behind the excuse of, "well we want to make sure the current build is stable before adding content" this way it requires less resources to expand the game on their behalf and makes us player think they are actually working towards new content. This method would then release Ankama's resources for other projects.

This is simply hypothetical and I'm not saying this is the case but until Ankama give us some information this is all open to opinion.

Updated - 20/06/2010 - Not sure if Ankama already had this planned or if they listened to this post but either way this post from Ankama is related so I figured I'd post it for anyone who reads this topic.

Through the amount of hot fixes and double hot fixes and triple hot fixes they are not very good at programming what other conclusion is there to draw?

It would be nice is the simply employed more people for the task because at present they must have a MASSIVE backlog of bugs were there is simply not enough time in a day to fix and release new content on a timetable.
