Disassemble
posté April 08, 2012, 10:40:59 | #1
Disassemble I'm not sure how much this idea could make crafting easier, but I guess it's up to the numbers.
The option to destroy items and regain a part of the resources used to create them could be added to the game, either as a totally new gathering profession, or with the help of an item made by handymen for the haven bag.
For example: disassembling a Kick Axe (3 iron ore + 8 Gobball horn) would get you 1 iron ore and 2-3 Gobbal horns.
Tell me what you think.

A good idea in general, the amount of crap I've dropped and had to destroy due to their uselessness, lack of need sellability in the market or because I drop them so often, it would be nice to actually have something to do with them rather than swearing at being an Enu when I drop the same set piece for the millionth time.

I support this one whole heartedly.

This is a good idea

It would be nice if it gave experience as well, based on the level of the item being disassembled. Though, it would probably have to be reduced experience as compared to crafting the item.

If it was a completely new gathering profession, it would have to give experience. You'd have to level it up to be able to disassemble higher level items. That's the way I imagine it...

A good idea, something to do with useless itens you make and drop. But it would be another crafting profession not gathering, regardless, it is a good idea.

Well, these are just minor details. Nevertheless, I still think it should be a gathering profession, as you'd be getting resources, not equippable or consumable items.

It seems really pointless to make it an entirely new profession, as this is really first and foremost a quality of life improvement, not to mention the fact that to get any use out of it now, high level crafters would have to go back and grind low level crafting again just so they could get this profession up to be of any use.

It should just be added to all crafting professions, perhaps as a tab where you can drag items you can create into it to disassemble them to get some of the materials back, and maybe award some experience for the profession in question.

Somewhat afraid that would make prof. leveling too easy.

But I do like the idea

At the moment most professions have a serious slump where there's nothing good to grind. It normally happens around the 40 mark. If disassembling was added, crafting lower level items and disassembling them to regain a few of the materials back might be worthwhile. Not to mention the fact that most of the items created by the weapon making professions have been rendered useless by Makabra weapons. Disassembling might create a market, and if not that, at the very least a use for the masses of currently useless weapons created during the long and arduous grind.

If disassembling gave experience though, it would have to be at most half the experience of crafting an item, lest it is made too easy.
