Buff some of the Crafted Gear
posté March 13, 2012, 08:46:22 | #1
Buff some of the Crafted Gear I'll be direct here: Crafted gear is absolutely useless. (That is untill lvl 40+ items, but by that time, dropped gear is even better)

Either:

1. Buff the gear, bcz no low level character even bothers wearing them.
2. In order to level up your skill, one tends to spam the cheapest equipment over and over again till you stack over hundreds of the same useless item; so make items decomposable or something or just make it part of the next gear.
3. Some crafting professions are a bit easy than the rest. (Single ingredient items even at higher levels)

No, crafted gear is quite on par with dropped gear. It's got different bonuses (More specialised, often) and is usually not part of a set, but that does not automatically make it worse - it makes it less universally useful and popular, yes.
I don't think any serious changes to these items' stats are needed. Minor tweaks might be good, though - I don't have access to any reliable metrics to analyse it. If there's a problem with anything, it's the crafting system itself - the way items are made and experience is gained currently requires making much more of these items than anyone can feasibly use, and this creates the feeling that no-one uses them.

"Deconstructing" items for XP may be a bit crude, but it'd work. Generally, I'd argue for a more elegant system, but now I'll take it.

Well, I'm just trying to say that there's way too much useless stuff out there.

Yes, that would be correct. It has nothing to do with how crafted gear's stats compare to those of dropped gear, though, only with how much of it you have to pump out just to gain a few profession levels. Written about it already. Search and you'll find my posts with further details and thoughts on improving the situation.
