Map tokens, more feedback than suggestion, really

Map tokens This is one of the changes I really don't understand. Why take away all the different map tokens and only give them back when we jump through some hoops (In the form of achievements in this case)? It's not like anyone other than the one player looking at the map is affected by those in any way, or can even see them. The only thing map markers give is convenience at reading the map, especially after returning to an area (Or the game in general) after a while.
And gaining something insignificant like that does not carry any sense of accomplishment in it, either.

So, could someone explain what's the point of this whole thing? It's annoying, useless, does more harm than good, no matter which way you look at it and it's, quite frankly, stupid. Am I missing something?

Amen to that! I understand that there would be one "free" token for new all chars, who manage to get to the "mainland", but hell, after achievement reset we can't complete this particular one as it requires char to be a newly created. You cannot rescue the gremlin 2nd time, you know... And advanced markers' achievements are usually too much fuss for such a minute reward. Good thing I had most of Amakna marked before the wipe, all placed markers are still there, I just cannot add new ones.

I also don't like this step. Map should be as convinient as possible and markers helped in that regard. But unlocking them is just stupid.Put all markers back and replace an achievement rewards with something like new emotes, maybe some equipment. I think making a special set available from achievement unlocking , which is not op, but sort of nice to have whould be much better and useful.

Well, I have noi problems with map marker achievements as long as it's something exotic, like a mob icons or some country-specific marker or something. As long as there would a couple of different marker icons available right from the start, I would have no problems not having "tavern" or "clover" markers.
Give me my "tree", "craft", "well", "danger" and "?" icons and I could do the rest with marker comments.
