[Azael] provided more information on the prospecting change on the French forums.
I thought you might be interested to get it here as well:

Hi there!

From now on players prospecting values (the basic one plus bonus) will add up in group to unlock items. To sum up: The more you are and the more items you will get.

It wasn’t the case in the old system; we wanted to change the drop to have a better handling of items provided in solo and group.

Your personal prospecting will of course increase your chances to drop an item, each monster having a maximum amount of items to drop.

And to reassure you, we didn’t balance this system assuming that an Enutrof or a prospecting specialist was necessary to drop the right items, but more to make it so groups drop more items than a solo player.

Something concerning inventory modifications:

Keys, scrolls and others are not considered as quest items.

We created the new quest inventory for non-destructible items given by quests (mostly Mount Zinit) and a new upcoming type of items.

Leather dealers are safe!

Aza.

Jeebus people, you're acting as if this is not the same people who worked on Dofus. They're only the same dopey b*****ds, of course they're not capable of making a wholly enjoyable game without screwing up, lol :p. This time round it just seems like they want to fill their pockets, although I'm not sure whether its pure greed or circumstance that's made them do it. They've spent so much time faffing around in beta that they've probably been forced to make people start paying for what is clearly still a beta. Its like they cant just pick a direction and stick with it... whoever their lead game designer is I think needs to be fired tbh. The game has so much potential that its just being wasted on them.

Personally, the only reason I'm playing this is as a filler while I upgrade my PC and wait until Guild Wars 2 comes out (now, those guys really know what they're doing). I already know fine well what Ankama are capable of doing after my experience with Dofus. I'm not foolish enough to think that they've suddenly changed and im definitely not foolish enough to invest too much time in this game only to see everything get tossed up in the air again.

I will say though, its a shame that such a great concept as a turn based mmorpg lies almost sololy in the hands of ankama. I just hope one day I'll be able to bring an alternative around, for now though I'll just watch and learn from their mistakes and the occasional good they produce. To be honest they're just trying too hard without a particular plan or direction, something that they so desperately need. But at least they've got you all hooked, I guess that's what they're counting on for now at least.

Man's real life is happy, chiefly because he is ever expecting that it soon will be so. - Edgar Allan Poe.

(Edit: I've since gone on to find out that the lead programmer is in fact one of the co-founders of Ankama... LOL. Ah well, Kudos on the base concept.)
There's so much win in everything you said. By the way, the information Troyle just gave us about the prosp locks is at least better than what I expected. You will never be able to get some gear alone without an high prospecting level, but you just can go with some guild mates or friends and no one has to ruin a char with prospecting or reroll an Enu... I'm waiting. Until GW2 is out, I'll just wait for Ankama to make this game as good as it should be. Let's see what they'll do.

I don't really mind the Prospect min requirement.

As long as this increases the chance to get certain rare loots like Haven Gems from bosses.

And as long as the amount isn't "LOLINSANE" like "500+ total PP to unlock Haven Gem from Royal gobball"

Because people will start putting up a "LFM for XXX dungeon! Must wear prospect gears!" and I highly doubt everyone will be happy with that.

Nyeheh~

Heh, you need only look at member join dates and what they say (mine should be older but I don't remember my older account details). I'm from the days of the wisdom xelor and the roulette ecaflip, perhaps even the first to come up with the builds (of which they utterly destroyed and never gave the option to fix until much later... when I had already quit).

The people who have been around the longest don't show much faith in ankama whilst the younger players are trying they're damned hardest to protest. Its kind of a strange mirror reflection of real life. Although, since I cannot simply change which world I live in I hope I never fall into the same resignation out here :p

Other game developers understand how to make a game both absorbing and fun. Ankama sadly still hold onto the outdated belief that its the grind that keeps players going. That or they lack the ability to come up with an alternative. In actuality the thing that maintains a player base is providing the players with a sense of achievement and there's many ways of doing that without making it pain stakingly boring for them.

i think resetting skills/stats isnt good idea.
trashed char need resetting cuz this game still sux.
but wis char should have had penalty(no reset) cuz they can lvl easily and they alrdy know about penalty(they given up other stats).
so if resetting system is updated, wis char hav no penalty anymore and no wis char will be trashed.
many ppl(who didn lvl wis)will be disapointed by this system.

just make resetting system for low lvl only(less than 60?).
i think its better for trashed char(not wis char) and ppl who r testing build.

or make resetting system for cash and erase wis stat.
oh but its too late to erase wis cuz wis char alrdy got 100lvl. so don do this.

DasRav,
if you are just one player... you don't need the same amount of items as a full group that without this changes the group of "6" will spend more time than you playing alone and this game was made to be played in group.
now the minimum pp for drop can be bad because this block a player of playing alone.(sry about my mistakes in english)

RenomGT

I think it makes sense that, if an enemy has an item and kill the enemy, I can loot the item. Of 6 guys kill the same enemy, they also get ONE item. But ti seems you need a guy good at searching bodies to find those items...

Lets say that I go to a dungeon alone and clear it, while a group of 6 also clears it. How does it make sense that the 6 get more items for one run?
The 6 can do the dungeon a LOT faster, so they already get more items over the same ammount of time spendt doing it. That was my point regarding more drops for more people, that I am against artificial item rewards for groups.

My point regarding minimum prospecting was that it adds nothing to the game but an artificial barrier. It would be a bad change if no class had an extra benefit from prospecting, because then you would just add the need for everyone to get the stat on an item or two. But since the Enutrof benefits from prospecting, this change will force every group to have one or more Enutrof to be optimal. If you need minimum prospecting to get good items, solo people without prospecting are artificially punished for no reason that makes sense to me.
