Makawhats? Makabras! The Makabras make up a brand new series of items introduced yesterday to accompany the game’s release. These rings and weapons, available exclusively from the Boutique, have a very interesting peculiarity: they evolve! Intrigued? Read on…

Makabras are equipment items that have lain underground for many a year in the different regions of the World of Twelve, far, far from the light of day. Buried amidst the remains of the World’s creatures for such a long time, these items now yield an array of weird and wonderful properties…
Certain superstitious adventurers fear these mysterious items, believing them to be incarnations of death and suffering… After all, they are said to be possessed by the souls of creatures which prowl around amongst the rocky foundations of each archipelago.
Thanks to these souls, though, Makabras can evolve as though they were living creatures. Naturally, this discovery has helped many adventurers swallow their fear – owning a Makabra has suddenly become a highly lucrative prospect!

HOW TO EVOLVE YOUR MAKABRA

Makabras evolve by being used in fights.
All you need to do is equip your item for fights (you don’t necessarily have to use it) and it will gradually level up: combat experience will make your Makabra progress.
Additionally to evolving your character, you can now also level his equipment up.
Balance with other ingame items is respected, the role of Makabras is first to bring a bit more variety.
In short, the Makabras are your chance to gain that je ne sais quoi” that could make all the difference in battle!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The experience of your Makabras is based on your own experience. The level of you Makabra will never be higher than yours.
  • When wearing several Makabras, the experienced received will be divided between each, slowing down their progress.
  • Only equipped Makabras can progress. Keeping it in your inventory will prevent it from receiving experience.
  • Equipping a Makabra does not lower your character’s experience gain.It doesn’t increase it either, however.

To finish up, here are a few examples of the Makabras that could soon be yours. All bonuses are unlocked progressively with each level gained, based on a strictly increasing experience curve:

You've just lost another client here. I'm glad I didn't pre-suscribe. Thank you for doing this from day 1, instead of ruining the game slowly.

I don't see what everyone is so annoyed about honestly.

To all the complainers, I don't see any difference between these and subscription pets. There will be similar items available for free in the game, I'm sure.

f2p ppl should just stop the game they cant do shit in astrub

posté March 01, 2012, 17:39:06 | #15
Why would they spend precious money on enhancing the f2p areas when they get virtually nothing in return?
And whats with the complaints about these equips?I think all this was an epic idea.

Kudos to whoever thought of them!

You're already paying 5-6 Euro to play monthly anyway.

I guess a one-time purchase that cost only around 1.5 Euro will really hurt your wallet.

Simple as that, you can keep complaining it's a pay to win but hey, I have to pay over 100 Euro just to win in other game. Cheap item + farming/grinding to make full use of it is a lovely system in my book.

Nyeheh~

I'm going to remember this thread 4 months from now when everyone is complaining about how terrible the weapons are.

I fear you're being a little too sarcastic and pedantic.

I wasn't comparing a weapon specifically to a pet. Where were the people when the Dragoon was released, complaining about +50 wisdom? I guess they weren't complaining because there were other pets of the same nature for free.

At level 100, which is when the stats you are referring to come into play, it might be very common to have such equipment which add similar stats if not better.

It's getting a little out of hand. Perhaps it wasn't the smartest move Ankama could've made considering the likely responses they would get, but it isn't a game breaking move by any stretch and people are terribly overreacting.

Sure, there's a weapon that can give you AP, but takes away HP from you instead of giving you +150HP and 20% Damage..
