Haven Worlds - Azael answers your questions

We went to Azael to get him to answer the most important question we received about Haven Worlds, that will be opening their doors on June 18!

How many Haven Worlds will come out evey week (after the first 60)?

We’re still looking into the technical aspect, but to begin with we should have 4 to 8 implemented every month (so 1 to 2 per week).

Don’t you think that Haven Worlds will only spread the population of the smaller servers even thinner?

This was one of our concerns at first.

However, the game will keep receiving more content, be it with the Haven Worlds or new islands.

Implementing user generated content should help the community better organize and create social places where to hang out.
Overall this is more a problem with the game than just the Haven Worlds.

Why did you choose an auction system that will help rich guilds over a fairer system with prices that would evolve based on the size of the guild?

This would have had many flaws, especially with Rich guilds, that would have only had to create a smaller alt guild to purchase a Haven World for cheap. Also, the size of the guilds shouldn’t be a deciding factor in the case of Haven Worlds. On the other hand, why making the access more complicated for big guilds?

In the end we think the auction system is fairer and more equal for everyone.

Who can bid? The Guild Leader?

Yes, the Guild Leader and any member with the right “Manage Haven World”. This new right will be implemented with the update.

If I got it right I can only bid on one HW at a time? What prevent another guild from creating an alt guild to prevent me from acquire one?

This is one of the flaws of the auction system by steps. We had to choose from 2 types of auctions. We decided to go for this one since it was the most fair to all servers. It’s not perfect, as pointed here, and we will keep trying to find another type of auction.

Will you do something to prevent guilds from purchasing Haven Worlds with their alt guilds, and then take control of them in GvG with their main guild, to stack bonuses?

Bonuses will not stack per se. If a Guild owns a Haven World and conquers another, the bonuses of a same type will not stack (only the best of both will apply).

Do I have to buy a Haven World in the Nation that matches the Nation of my guild?

No, since Guilds are not (yet) linked to the Nations, you will be able purchase a Haven World in the Nation of your choice.

Can we sell a Haven World? If sold, will it stay the stay or reset?

Upon release it will not be possible to sell a HW, but it will come shortly after.

Chances are that upon selling a Haven World the former will be destroyed, at least partially. After all, the goal is to build it.

Keep in mind that a Haven World is a region ruled by a guild that should always represent the investment a guild put in it…

If a guild owning a Haven World disbands, what happens? There were also mentions of the possibility to lose a HW if the guild is inactive for too long, what about this?

Indeed, if a guild is inactive it will automatically disband, leading to the loss of the Haven World.

This rule will not be implemented upon release and will only be integrated later, with the possibility to sell Haven Worlds.

Up to now we were unable to define “inactivity” for a guild, but the revamp will allow us to.

Can we “close” our HW to avoid pillage?

You won’t be able to close it directly, but you can place tollbooths that should dissuade the simple pillagers. You can even place the Tollbooth right at the entrance of the HW so it blocks the whole thing. smile

However, we decided to implement incentives, should you decide to keep it open. A building will allow you to take part of the Kamas and drops looted in your Haven World.

This should convince you to put as much content as possible in your HW.

What about drops in the Haven World?

Monsters work the same way as outside a HW. The only difference will be the building allowing the guild to receive part of the Kamas and Drops looted in the HW.

Note also that there will be no limitations as to which monsters and resources can be planted in the Haven World.

And on a final note, monsters will also be able to reproduce, just as outside a Haven World.

In the first devblog you mentioned the idea of mines in the HW. Is it still under consideration? If yes, what will be the limitation?

Yes, it’s still being worked on.

The main limitation will be the amount of cells taken by these mines in the Haven World and their cost.

Can we still change the grounds?

At first no, but we’re already preparing ourselves for this possibility.

Will Haven Worlds look different depending on the nation they are in?

No, it’ll be up to players to do it. The first houses customization options will of course be about the Nations.

What about the size of the Haven Worlds? Is there a limit?

You will be able to increase their size, but it will always be limited yes.

In other words, you will have to make decisions in regards to which buildings to choose for your Haven World!

What bonuses will be provided by the Haven World and how much farming will it take to make these bonuses interesting?

There’s no secret: building a complete Haven World will take commitment, and a lot of investment, but the bonuses and gains will appear quite quickly.

For example building a simple house will unlock more storage space for your guild.

We also thought about the guilds with a lower gaming time than others and created buildings the will generate resources, but it will take quite a bit of space in the Haven World.http://www.wakfu.com/en/mmorpg/community/blog/posts/338773-haven-worlds-azael-answers-your-questions
First Ankama intervention
Hi there,

I wanted to talk about HW auctions.

Here are the two solutions that we had.

1. Two types of auctions, fitting to WAKFU

The first is ascending auctions, and it’s the one we went for.

We begin with a starting cost, and participants bid a given amount. This amount grows as the auctions go on, eliminating more and more potential bidders.

We implemented a basic limitation, known to those used to online auctions: 7 days.
  • Pros: Adapted to all servers and accessible to everyone.
  • Cons: Final rush on the auctions.

Reminder: If a bid is placed with only X seconds left, the timer goes back to X seconds, allowing everyone to bid again. So some auctions could last much longer than 7 days!

The second type is descending auctions.

We begin with a very high price (500 000 000 Kamas) that will lower every X hours, until reaching a minimum price (1 000 000 Kamas).

The first one to bid wins the Haven World.
  • Pros: Clear and simple.
  • Cons: If the cost is accessible for 20 guilds, the first arrived will win. And then comes the time issue. No matter which time we set the price change on, some guilds wouldn’t find it fair (nobody connected at this time, etc.).

Reminder: We have to take all servers into account with their many time zones, and we can therefore not easily say that 7 PM French time is acceptable for everyone. The price review would take place every 6 hours.

In both cases the richer guilds will get the first Haven Worlds. We are aware of it, and we accept it. Keep in mind that we will implement 8 new Haven Worlds each month after the release.

2. Why chosing the ascending type

Between these two options, it’s the fairest one. The guild bids as high as it can afford and doesn’t have to be available all the time. In the end, the only time that matters is right before the end of the auction.

We estimated this alternative as the best option.

To be honest, there’s no miracle solution. Both have the ups and downs.

3. Your opinion

Now it’s your turn to tell me, knowing these two options and how they could apply, which one do you prefer?

Don’t hesitate to ask your questions, and I’ll try to clarify the rules if necessary.

Now about crafting.

The handyman revamp will come with the overall crafting revamp, later.

However, this update will already add more content for our beloved handymen!
  • Appearance customization for buildings (in June)
  • Craftable Dungeon blueprints (July, hopefully)

There will be dungeons available in the editor right with this update (just a few).

Handymen will be able to craft blueprints of the existing dungeons AND exclusive ones! Our goal is to add new ones regularly.

They will only be buildable in Haven Worlds, but we want to make sure that the Haven Worlds bonuses apply in these dungeons.

For now we have 5 dungeons available in this update (existing ones), and one exclusive should be implemented around September/October.

Of course we will also add more decoration items along the next updates.

The next main content implemented for handymen will be Region conquest (end of the year). But until then, the profession will have been revamped like all the others.

We will also organize regular polls to ask you what buildings you would like to see implemented.

I insist on the fact that your feedback matters, since with the revamps that we have in the pipeline (like politics), and the additional of new community features (conquest, for example) planned for the end of the year, we want to make sure that the community basis is strong enough to keep everything as coherent as possible, and give you the proper tools to really start impacting the game.

One last important thing: The auctions will not begin directly on Tuesday right after the update.

The first auctions may begin on Tuesday evening at best, or maybe even not before Friday evening.

awesome already excited :3
Indeed, and it even sounds like they anticipated many of the possible issues or problems these new system could have for a change. So far I really don't see many downsides this is going to have.
Sounds good, though I'm still not too keen on the GvG idea (i.e. prisms)

No, since Guilds are not (yet) linked to the Nations, you will be able purchase a Haven World in the Nation of your choice.
Curious. Yet?

Will we get more info on this as it gets closer to the guild revamp day? How will this affect multi-nation guilds?
Thank you both for answering the question now we even have a date biggrin.
That sucks about the ground type. I was looking forward to haven worlds looking different, not more plain green land.
Beautification such as changing ground type and placing decorative things like rocks will be very important to have.
You can only bid by 100 kamas at a time?

Will the time left on the auctions be shown?

Can't players just keep the bid at 100, and bid at the last second?
First thought I got about limiting amount of mines in heaven world:
Make them more expensive depending on how close other mines are.
That would allow you to put some mines cheap (in money) but would cost you more travel time, or put them closer for extra cash and save on travel.

IIRC the bidding lasts for 1 week.
Far more positives than potential negatives to the Haven Worlds, from what I can see. I like the idea for the smaller Guilds, allowing them to build a very space-hungry building that generates resources for them.

I also totally love the option of a tollbooth right at the entrance, contrasted with the potential gains of allowing more open access, and collecting a fraction of drops/kamas in a specialized building. Very interesting options!
When will everyone get a haven world, and where will you put them?
You can already see where they're going to be, if you play the game and walk around. a
And as to "everyone".... well, whenever they join a guild that has one, or their guild bids and gains access to a world.
Delete all guilds at once and start again upei my guild to 17 and did not find it difficult, what harm would be to start from scratch again. ^ ^
I think guilds should start from scratch and delete all, so being able to control the guilds inactive.

biggrin

Delete all guilds and start from scratch. I would laugh and cry at the same time.

Hell no! The guild I'm in is small and we worked our @sses off to get to 20. As is our guild may get set back. Part of our guild is already on the fence about this whole thing. The non-nation thing is very annoying. Get ready for the bonta one's to be overrun first.
I say one thing - Marketplaces. It's seems bad thay they are connected with local (nation) Market. It makes all rich guild will try to get HW in the most populated nation with the best market (who want to have HW in Sufokia where is no ppl and market means 1 bag max on the market). This make that most rich (and populated guilds) stick again in Bonta which make Bonta even more powerful and populated. And other nations- less populated. It's vicious circle...

Can we still change the grounds?
At first no, but we’re already preparing ourselves for this possibility.

What does it mean? I mean the question.
Is the "manage havenworld" privilege gonna be new with the update? If not, then my guild will have a big issue with our inactive gm.
WHEN!!?? update?
