Goodbye Wakfu Yeah, it's another thread about a leaving player but since Wakfu doesn't have an in-game messaging system it's hard to leave a message for friends saying bye.

I guess you could say I was a fairly prominent character in Sufokia, or at the very least well known. I was the vice governor for 7-8 weeks or so and spent a lot of my time helping out the new players and trying to encourage more people to join Sufokia. But there comes a time when you just want to play a game and enjoy yourself.. and there's nothing left for me to do in Wakfu. I have no interest in rolling a new character or maxing some largely pointless professions. I've done all the content and I'm not really enjoying myself anymore.

I don't want to turn this thread into a rant so I'll try (and fail) to keep it short and just offer my opinions, without raging. When it comes down to it, I'm just a player paying to access the servers. I have no divine right to the game, I have no right to have the game tailored to my needs and if Ankama want to make changes it is fully within their right to do so. If a change is made I disagree with it is unfortunate, but I have no right to demand Ankama revert it. Anyone claiming otherwise needs to accept this. Now onto the grumpy part.

I disagree with an awful lot of the changes made to the game since release and feel like they have made the game less enjoyable to play, not more. I think the inaccessibility of new content is going to drive away players rather than make it more exciting, and the new additions to the game generally feel rushed and incomplete. Perhaps other people are enjoying it (I sincerely hope they do!) but everywhere I look in game it is dead, and every day I play more and more of my friends are deciding to quit the game too.

I'm also not a fan of forced PVP, which is impossible to opt out of as you cannot play beyond Astrub without choosing a nation. Since I've been in government a few times there's a few players in game that think it's hilarious to aggro me 4-6 v 1 and kill me. I don't think this is hilarious, but there you go. Whether Ankama wants to hide behind the 'its a sandbox' excuse or not, forced PVP is a problem with this game and I'll put money on it being a significant cause in players quitting. It's fun for some players organising the guard squad to protect the mines or w/e. It's not fun for the players that are being ganked, over and over, without any way to prevent it or fight back.

Though I think the real nail in the coffin for me was buying a gift for a friend of the Ankama shop (not the wakfu shop) and then having Ankama screw up the delivery of it. The support I received was not particularly caring of the problem and I've paid for an express delivery on a product that was now 2 weeks late due to an error on Ankama's part. Ankama wasn't bothered by this at all. Honestly as much as I want this game to succeed and do well, I don't feel encouraged to give any more money to a company that just seems to not really care at all.

I do want it on record that I think Troyle is doing a good job, however. Keep it up Troyle. If anyone is going to save the game it's you, and I can't think of anyone else that would be doing a better job. Also you crack me up with every one of your posts, I swear. If I had an official seal of approval I'm sure you'd get it.

Today I completely wiped my account. Gave away all my items and kamas, and deleted my characters. I've uninstalled the game and as far as I'm aware I very much doubt I'll be coming back.

Thanks to everyone that I played with, you're all great people and I'll probably miss those I'm not able to keep in touch with. Special mention to Odeen and all the members of the Assknights guild in Sufokia. I love you guys, you're great. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

I just hope that fix for xelors's spell "aging" is not listed only by mistake. Seriously, this would be extremly pathetic if it wasn't fixed after two hotfixes...
Some classes have skills that were bugged and not fixed for two *years* so I wouldn't be complaining that much if something doesn't work after two hotfixes.

Haven't taxes always been 10% in the markets (and everywhere else actually)? Back when I was vice I told the treasurer to change them to 10% and as far as I'm aware they shouldn't have ever been raised again. I wasn't on the last week or so though so that may have changed I guess.

Regarding raising taxes: This is a great method to -lose- tax income. Sufokia has the weakest markets by far and you need every competitive edge you can get in order to encourage people to use them. By raising the taxes higher than everywhere else you're basically saying "don't put things in your haven bag here". Consider Sufo's markets basically suck right now, you want to encourage people to do things to pay tax, not encourage them to go somewhere else because it's cheaper AND has more traffic.

Also the problem IS lack of players, and this in turn causes the people to go elsewhere. People don't use Sufokia market because things there don't sell, so they go to another nation because they are almost guaranteed a sale. In terms of footfall you've probably got more people using 5th bond in an hour than you do using Sufokia's markets in an entire day. Even if the entire population of Sufokia only used Sufokia markets they would still be trading barely a fraction of what Bonta is trading.

I've tried experimenting with this before. Placing 2 identical, rare pieces of equipment in the markets. One for 1000k in Bonta, and one for 500k in Sufokia. The 1000k item sold in a matter of minutes, yet the item in Sufokia remained there for the entire time without selling. I then took it to Bonta and put it up for 750k and, surprise surprise, it sold within a few minutes again.

When you've got an immense lack of traffic and reason to believe things sell faster and for more in another market, you're probably going to go to the other market.

One of the biggest problems is that a centralised, single market is -far- more useful to the playerbase than 4 markets of varying tax rates across 4 nations when it costs money to travel between them all. Purely in terms of accessibility it is just far more in the interest of other players to use the one 'main' market than try and boost up a splinter market from a nation with the lowest population.

As a little sidenote, the challenge system is being majorly overhauled in the may 2 patch. If you're considering buying some challenges I'd recommend you wait until that goes live as the rewards from challenges are going to be considerably more useful for players (e.g. tokens to trade for what you want, rather than ugly albatrocious statues)

From TODAY (well, yesterday in my time zone) I was there too, yesterday. But I was talking about opening the dung after release. Noone was there until yesterday on Remington.
Nobody that you saw on the forums, you mean. The forums are really the vocal minority of the community. It's quite easily possible (and likely) that a bunch of australian/new zealand players opened the dungeon and ran it a few times before it was available for everyone else, since monk island was a local timegate. They were on monk island half a day before everyone else. I would put money on a few of them getting into the dungeon straight away and just not posting about it.

I'm always hesistant to agree with a suggestion that starts with 'like in dofus'. Wakfu isn't dofus, and ankama definitely shouldn't keep adding and tweaking content to make it more like dofus. The way they are going at the moment Wakfu will just become a smaller, less populated version of dofus.

I'm all for new ways to make it more exciting and interesting, but I'd rather they be -new- things unique to wakfu.

If trade was the whole nation it would be a non stop barrage of 'LFG' from everyone in places you are miles apart from.

What they need is perhaps a nationwide trade channel, and an area-specific LFG channel.

15 candles actually.

To be fair it's only approximately one billion combinations. That's not too many to try is it?

I mean.. assuming it takes a minute or so to try each combination, it will only take just under 2 millenia to try all the combinations without any hints.

I've turned all the candles on myself (server was dead at one point, easy to test with nobody around) and they stay on for long enough for me to go on the forums, find a new theory and turn them all off again manually. I've never ever seen a candle turn itself off. If one player can't do it alone it's because there's some arbitrary, invisible time limit to do it.

Still, if this dungeon does have the cooldown people claim I think it's the final nail in the coffin for my Wakfu subscription. I've hated the direction Ankama has been going in lately; making more and more and more content effectively 'exclusive' to a very small group of level 100 players that know the exact timers and camp the mobs every 3 days. Now we've got an even worse situation with a dungeon that is effectively being locked out from the entire playerbase except a couple of people. Like others have said: what if you can't play at that time? Tough shit. You can't run the dungeon, just like you can't fight black crow or moowolf.

I don't mind cooldowns for PLAYERS, but not for the world. Make the world bosses and dungeon have a 24h/72h cooldown or w/e for individual players in an instanced zone. Don't make it so nobody can do it because someone else did it instead of them.

I sincerely hope this is bad information or a mistranslation but I can honestly believe Ankama would do something that awful and think it's awesome.

I've seen a lot of BR players in the game and so far I've failed to find any reason to have a problem with them. I'm English and back in beta I used to play with a guild of Italian speakers. They were nice guys but trying to coordinate anything was a pain in the butt and frequently I would be left out because it was easier for them to talk in Italian so that's what they did.

The whole 'BR? *walks off*' thing I can completely understand because of this. If you're fluent in one language you want to play with other players that speak that language. Having 5 portugese speakers and 1 english speaker in a party means either you've got 5 people speaking a language they don't want to, or 1 person unable to understand what's going on.

In regards to the bad attitude of players.. is this something that is exclusive to brazilians? I don't think so. Maybe I'm meeting the wrong people all the time, but propotion of awful players that are brazilian is no more or less than the proportion of awful players that are English, Polish etc. I think the problem is that because the language barrier stops you seeing the nice people, you only end up seeing the nasty ones that aggro you or w/e.

When it comes down to it, Remington is the 'International' server. It is not the 'English' server as so many people seem to have decided. Yes, the game client is in English. No, that doesn't make it an English server. Correct me if I'm mistaken but nowhere in the TOS does it say this is an english server and all players should speak in English.

Some people have suggested BR get their own server but Remington is already dead as it is. The LAST thing this game needs is even more ways to split up the community. There isn't enough players in brazil, Europe (most of it at least), Australia etc COMBINED to populate one server. There certainly is not enough players to populate a new server and justify the extra running costs by Ankama. Looking at the average amount of players in game I'm fairly confident that Wakfu right now is losing money, and I don't see this as a solution at all.

Troyle has already said the time of day doesn't have any effect so #1 doesn't work. For the 2nd one there would need to be at least 30 candles, otherwise you couldn't represent all the digits. There's only 15 candles so it would be impossible to have a numbering system covering a number that can be up to around 1000. Also the number changes so often due to people fighting it would be absolutely impossible to open the dungeon so I'd very much doubt that's the solution.

Also in regards to both of them: this would be absolutely terrible if they were the solution, since not only do we have absolutely no idea about the combination and/or order but we'd also have to assign the candles arbitrary numbers without any hints as well. Since we don't have any like that I doubt they repesent a number.

It is really quiet right now so easy to test theories with a friend. None of these work:

  • Every previously mentioned suggestion in this thread. All of them
  • All your silly patterns and spirals - lets face it they were never gonna work, but we tried them anyway
  • With all off, turn all on
  • With all on, turn all off.
  • Turn on all big, then all medium, then all small
  • Turn on all small, all medium, all big
  • Turn on 2 big, 3 medium, 1 small (like dungeon candles)
  • Turn on 2 big, 2 medium, turn off 1 small, turn on 1 medium
  • Same as above but twice (so 4 big etc)

The candles don't seem to ever go out by themselves (or turn on by themselves), so I don't think there is any sort of time limit to do all the actions. The only hint we had about this is someone saying they heard a mod say it.. which is completely not an official source. Unless an Ankama employee specifically posts it I don't think it's a valid hint - which still makes our only hint 'it's the candles and not the time of day'

My theory at the moment is that this is about putting out candles, not about lighting candles... but then some people say on Nox they lit a candle and the gate opened so really I have absolutely no idea.

Actually my real theory is that this is genuinely bugged and not working properly and Ankama constantly tell us "no you just can't do right" when in reality if they tried it it wouldn't work either. I think we really need Ankama to try the real solution and make sure it actually works at some time.

If you're having problems with a member of Captain's government, why not send a message to Captain directly?

Yes aggroing sucks, but posting a thread on the forums isn't really gonna change that. The people that are gonna do it are always gonna do it because there's absolutely nothing there to stop them. The only thing Captain could do is replace the people that act like arses.

"If the members from the government don't follow their king's rules... why should we?"

Wouldn't that just make everything worse? You don't want people aggroing in mines but you're saying if you got aggroed you might as well go around aggroing people too? I can't see how that'd fix anything

Sufokia ecologist wanted In Sufokia the gov takes a lot of pride in the amount of effort they put into keeping the ecosystem has balanced as possible; ensuring all resouces are available throughout the nation, not just fulfilling the clan member wishes. The current ecologist of sufokia has informed us they're gonna be away for a while, so we're looking for a replacement.

Ideally we want an ecologist with the following skills:
Trapper 40
Farmer 60
Lumberjack 60
Herbalist 60

With skills at those levels you'd be able to replant all of the available species in sufokia and keep our ecosystem nicely balanced. People love wrecking the ecosystem and never replanting after they take resources (or spamming babbages everywhere!) so we want someone that would be willing to spend at least an hour or two every day going through the nation and making sure it's nicely balanced.

If you want in leave a message here (whether in forum or ankabox), or get in touch with Kraed or Odeen in the game. If you're interested but don't have all the skills at those levels, get in touch anyway. It doesn't take too long to train the skills if you don't mind a bit of grinding.

[Sufokia] Knit emote challenge in Steamulating shore Hello!

Since it's elections tomorrow and this might be our last time to blow all of Sufokia's tax money, we're running the emote challenge for the 'Knit!' emote in Sufokia.

Challenge is called Caniball Holocaust 2

It'll be bought and up and running by the time I post this. If you want the emote head over to Steamulating Shore in Sufokia and go stomp some caniball plants. Everyone that takes part in the challenge gets the emote, provided 100 plants are stomped between everyone within 10 minutes. Plenty of chances to win

Happy hunting!
